Yes, obviously, but Apartheid is South African. You can say 'separatism', you don't have to try to be fancy and obscure.
It's the correct name for it. The only thing in the world that our treatment of Blacks between the years 1865 and 1965 can be compared to in the world is Apartheid. They resemble each so much that it's an easy and natural comparison. South African whites based their system directly on the American system of oppression in some cases.
