Is there a way to change controls my middle mouse button seems to be broken

My custom client has an option for "laptop mode", which does not use the middle mouse button but rather modifier keys and left-right mouse button combinations. It can help out in a pinch, but I was never particularily happy with it.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
