Should take a look at how state level laws and regulations are formed :p
The argument is not for combining church and state but rather allowing people to vote by their own beliefs. Sharia law would def be a combination of church and state. Not to mention a majority of americans being muslim is bordering a laughable hypothetical. Sure all the muslims in america could move to a single area and then influence that particular area's politics but as with North Carolina you would see resistance and pressures from other states and the federal government.

Imagine the outcry of the latter, those stories are probably squished by the media. Would go against their agenda.

Which is really interesting considering the states were supposed to be able to govern themselves, free of other states. Uniting under a limited federal government. Funny how time changes our foundation in this country.

This was a rhetorical question to illicit people thinking logically or hysterically. Apparently the majority here failed and sided with hysterical instead.

Separation of church and state was to prevent the pope (not heffernan) and other church institutions from directly imposing or interfering with the politics and laws of America. However it did not prevent or account for a majority demographic for imposing regulations on a community.

I do not consider myself a liberal but someone who likes to exercise in logical discussions about topics. As previously stated I grew up in a very religiously conservative area was even part of a snake church against my will. I was raised to believe the the world is 6000 years old and that dinosaur bones were put there as a test of faith by god. Had it not been for the fact of the internet and growing up being able to research and read things on my own without a preacher or deacon to refute the evidence provided I don't think I would have learned to think things through logically.

You call me a liberal but I am only thinking in the terms of reality here. There are aspects of human nature that are not going to change no matter how hard you try to stomp them out. Some of those aspects can teach us something about humanity in general if we are willing to pay attention. Had it not been for me of questioning what I was taught in the pursuit of finding an answer that was real I probably would have never questioned the idea that humans are not just white and colored considering that was how I was raised.

We share a large some of DNA with many if not most of the creatures on earth. Some are known to swap genders at random. To assume there is not something that causes this in humans is to argue against the natural evolution of species in general. It is the natural process for human nature to evolve and change and for humans as a community to resist the change without evaluating it logically leads to great loses. Hell if the library at Alexandria was never destroyed Muslim culture may have been more advanced then American culture and our science would be far more advanced then instead of being plunged into the dark ages by a pope that decided to be a jackass one morning.

I bring my young daughter into the men's room and set her up in a stall to do her business, something I'm sure she'll appreciate as women's restrooms tend to be much filthier. If she isn't young enough to warrant my needing to be in there with her, I would wait outside the girls' room, just like my parents did for me when I went to the boy's room. Something starts to happen, it is addressed. There is no scenario you can give that I can't flip into a current possibility that is currently the same danger.

I find the arguments against sharing bathrooms absurd. Since when are little girls at greater danger of being accosted than little boys when in a bathroom alone? At the end of the day, the only valid concern is about predators preying on women and/or children. If someone is being a creep, in any bathroom, that should be reported. If someone is using a bathroom to relieve themselves, why do you care? If someone wants to use a bathroom to accost someone else, they're going to do it regardless of what the law is.

Hey look someone who thought threw the process logically as a person instead of echoing the rhetoric of a bias group of people or refusing to think about their opinion completely.

Marp my parents did the same thing for me including my mother bringing me into the women's restroom when I was very young. And that was in a location where her fear was that a fully grown adult would be the problem not a person that looks like a male but really is not.

I find the question of the OP to be somewhat gender biased. personally, when my kids were small, and in situations as those discussed here, I was equally worried for my son as I was for my daughter. as for transgender people, they are human beings like everyone else, they had the misfortune to be born with a disability or illness or whatever you want to call it. they suffer from it much more than "normal" people on whom they have absolutely no wish to impose a condition they haven't chosen to have. they need medical care to carry on with their lives, if they manage to, as in most cases they chose to end it, maybe to the relief of those bothered by their unfortunate condition.

once again. there is no issue with "sharing" the bathroom with them, when they go to the correct bathroom.

the issue is allowing males that decide they "feel" like a female to invade the women only sectors of society in the name of political correctness, which then opens up people that are not necessarily even gay but are pedos or just your standard rapist there where they would not normally be permitted to be under the cover of being a ****.

remove chidlren from the equation entirely, if i was a rapist it would be 100x easier for me to find my victims by creeping in the bathroom pretending to be "gender confused"

or how about if i was just a dirty old man shooting voyeur porn? yeah thanks to **** like my new "gender identity" card it is a lot easier for me to sit on the sink with my video camera

you are all retarded.

also the biggest reason of all to say "nope, ***** that"? because whelp, "nope, ***** that" i am quite tired of the entire fabric of societies boundaries being redefined in EVERY corner by a legion of politically correct *****
