I think he understands your reasoning, but this being an auction its gentleman rules. And that wouldn't fly at an actual auction, maybe a tradeshow, but not an auction.

I can't find the word "auction" or a reference to "standard" rules anywhere else in this thread.

Oh, at the time I was just annoyed because he implied I did not have them in stock.
