That assumes all people are equal. They are not; a majority of people are complacent and stupid. Assume the worst for all until proven otherwise is the best rule to go for, and in this case everyone is an idiot and follows the herd.

So does democracy by allowing everyone to vote equally.
Granted I could imagine the world being a better place where no fool has access to hammers, but that sounds kinda utopian.

Which is why we're in this **** situation to begin with. Remove a majority of all people's right to vote, go back to the land based system, and you see **** shape up faster than a rabbi in Aryan lands. People who have no stake in game game have no need to vote; only those who've wealth invested or blood invested have that right. Not the trash siphoning the blood from said people.

No doubt, people who have no idea what they are doing deciding the countries future always felt weird to me.
But if we are taking it this way I would rather see a system that checks one's common sense and basic understanding of the world around against a certain minimal requirement.
Since the one you propose feels like feudalism.
Then again, it would also help to have candidates who actually know what they are doing and don't just talk ***** to cater to certain target groups.

Once you can throw away the concept of individualism and empathy it becomes understandably the better answer. The Roman Republic was the same way except with limited citizenship. Fascism, and Nazism, would be natural progressions of a system like this.

Though at this rate we'll be discussing global capitalism, communism (Western Europe is not socialist; they are turning communist.), and individual responsibility to the state for their secured future. Waste of time as this is about ***** bombing a superior culture; as even their own culture hates them. Better to live under Gaddafi in Africa or Assad in Syria compared to what they are now. At least Syria will not be taken over by this type of trash. Sadly the West has ruined any chance of them helping us clean up these people as we made them.

This is a problem bigger than you paint it.
A small group of people that decides what all the people needs, is forcefully unfair and often the small group can't see what other groups needs. That's why the general idea is to have all the groups represented in a government system.
Then, the next problem is that a huge group of ignorant people, can't see what's the best for the country, because a smaller elected group can manipulate them with easy jokes, fancy words and really a few thing.

Both system sucks and have bugs. Both system share the "knowledge" as mayor bug.
The small one can't know what others need, because to know it they should Live other's life (but our day time is limited and one can't live two or 65 style of lives).
The bigger one, the mass, are too much people without a clue to have a concrete dialogue. Pretty much like when you call 120 people in a meeting, expecting that the meeting doesn't turn into a mess.

But then what? If all the people could have all the knowledge that the other groups have, then their vote would represent their Real Idea, not the propaganda effectiveness.
If was a normal habit to study and know what's happening, everytime that a news comes up, many votes and many opinions would be an expression of different Ideas, not merely raging or fear or ideas without a foresight of the future.

That's why i focus so much on suggesting to people to learn. In every situation, is the first needed step to hope in a improvement of that situation, and future ones.
Basically i try to defend the school system for everyone and to make see to people that the knowledge is the first weapon that we should ask, and we don't have.

Terrorism and the geo-politic.
Inner politic and economy.
Omissed info from newspaper and propaganda.
Omissed info from the other newspaper with that other propaganda.
The daily vote campaign and the reasons behind the promises.
For every social and human problem, the first step is to know all the truth (that is often splitted into several pieces shared between the parties) and then decide what road could be the more effective and durable.

Pretty much the way i played Haven & Hearth when i was creating a "safe zone" to play with my friends in the middle of mayor factions.
When you Know, you can indeed decide.
When you don't know, you'll be tricked by your ally (your country) or used by your enemies (the terrorist) or, more, become useless (your babling in a topic without any other plans).
I know it sounds quite generic, but i think no one here want to read an history lesson. You should go read those big books that people often ignore. They aren't that bad, trust me. :P

That's why I hope for the day when technocracy should emerge as the one and only true form of rulership.

Uhmm.............
Hironically, what's done only with a tecnique attitude, is not something that look at the future.
Every country need a long plan that must be driven in many generation. An Ideal.
A thing that rely only into the tech, can't survive the time. A time where the whole world can change and deny your tech value, crushing yourself.

As always, the most durable way to grow and strenghten something, is a balance of both.
A well studied population, an ideal to prevent too much corruption of the plan, and a good technique to support the plan.

We had a technocracy a few years ago. It worked in that specific moment, but it also was brutal and created more problems in the long term on many Human Aspect.
Numbers was happy, people was not. School have decreased a lot, crushed under the weight of sterile numbers, and the lower population have lowered their life a lot more.
Then, the tech government ended. It could not last more than a few years or the damage would have covered the gains.

Red scare. We are not turning into communists, I assure you that the politics as held in France for example is socialist at best on the political spectrum.

As of my statement on religion, it is true that it may feel like blaming the gun. Religion has its upsides I guess but the downsides far outweigh them, I have yet to hear of a religion that does not promote dogmatism, narrow-mindedness and bigotry. However I have heard of guns used for protection and not only murders and evil deeds.
