I don't hate the Tinder Drill, it just hates me. Its why I make 4 or 5 before I start trying to light something. Sometimes (often...) even those aren't enough. :(

It can be a pain to light a fire with tinder drills. You're better off using Flint&Steel and lighting your torch on your fire before you log off, so you always have a fire source when you log back in.

I am looking forward to being able to make the flint & steel (finally have the recipe), but the 200 silver to make it... don't have that yet. :D

Depending on which server you're playing on, you may be able to get an iron bar for a lot less than 200s.

I haven't checked in a while, but I think I recall "trash quality" iron bars on Plymouth for around 100 at one point.

On Plymouth trash grade bars can be had for around 70s.

But 70s for a 10 use item is still enough to keep me playing with drills and torches.

If you plan it right, you really don't need to light your fire often. Just light it once and when you log out, light your torch with the fire. That way you can relight your fire with the still burning torch when you log back in.
