For the record, this is the most plausible assumption: Salah Abdeslam (the 'brain' behind the Bataclan terrorist attack) was apprehended three days ago. These attacks are assumed to be the sped up version of the follow ups they were planning, as well as a type of retribution for the apprehension of Abdeslam. I assume the attacks were originally planned for the Easter holidays.

Indeed, it seems to be spreading. Two bombings in Brussels Airport, but now also several metrostations have been caught in a blast, and they have just closed off the parliament in Brussels because of a suspicious vehicle. For people that speak Dutch, this is the fastest source of information I have yet found.

Basically the same just a small addition. Another assumption I heard was that it may not necessarily be retaliation for the arrest, but sped up, as you said, for fear of the authorities gathering information from the arrest or from what led to the arrest and capturing the associated or stopping this plan that had already been put on for a later date. Several experts had been speaking in media on the day of the arrest that an attack could be expected soon, but I never heard any explanation as to why they believed that.
