I have only a question.

A game should not be completely under the players power.
That's just a dead sentence for that game.

Devs should have a Plan-B.
Or must have it.

Edit:
Well.. that wasn't a question. XD

Their ark was plan B

Devs should had implemented a track all the witches option so that people could had actively track them down as they first promised. Another issue which we experienced was that we coudn't find all of the towns, for example we weren't able to find Darwoth's main base and even if we crossed it already, we woudn't be able to tell it was his. Teleportation is sound at the moment and it is impossible to find someone's homestead. A status of the server woud've also be very good and notice to which statues were prayed upon already.

We gave up after our statue had been compromised, it was relatively insecure and we did not expect anyone to be that close to tier 3 by that time already. Regardless if it was a strategy or not, with no way of surely knowing we gave up all our efforts and decided it was not worth risking so much time upon something uncertainty.

So location and status mainly was the problem for our (way too late) attempt, it never was a problem to get in anywhere. Popham shoudn't had been an endless search, it was still far too large for that.

aside from the ridiculous amount of boards for the ark, there were a lot of inspirationals needed that only drop at random!
and quite a lot of it.
that basically was the drop that filled the bottle.

also the concept was flawed from the beginning!
in a game that is entirely built around the struggle to keep what you build it is contraproductive to say that you will loose it for sure at some point!

It seems popham's fate is in Darwoth's hands. Personally, I hope he keeps it going just to keep the tears flowing. I heard the animals are such a pain why would anyone want them? Don't you have enough to do in this game with out animals?

All this ***** and moaning. We had a chance to have an impact on the game and all we did was complain. I think I'd rather see darwoth with all the animals since he appears to be the only one who actually bothered to try and earn them, Apart from the few who put resources into the ark that is. Kind of hard to keep building something that requires the community to cooperate when most of the community can't be bothered to cooperate. The only real mistake on MM's end was having faith in the community.

I often thought "Well, i could drop a chara on popham and build some board" but then... just...
Why?
Do i have the time to play my real chara and a fake chara for a server i would never play?
Uhh... no, real life have a specific amount of free time, i would not throw it into a huge task i don't feel mine. Is that a sort of Homework?
Well.

If this can kill a server, if my simply few time or lazyness or some players will can decide a whole gameplay mechanism... Well. I feel no guilty at all.
I find crazy that my will can close a server. I'm not a game master, i just wish to play with other players and have fun.

That thing wasn't enough fun to be of any interest.
Have more or less thing on a game is a dev interest. I'll play what the game already offer. Theyr update timeline isn't a player responsability.

The community wanted to cooperate the ark was just implemented really poorly, all there needed to be was some way to prove you contributed and then we could have rewarded each other. Still would have been entirely sandbox and ad-hoc socially structured, sandbox doesn't mean zero features.

Maybe if there were really difficult to build components that you would build at your base and then bring to the ark so you could screenshot that one component, but with endless porting of individual planks it's just too ridiculous.

Also, a Community task is something funny. I will happily spend some time on a main task, just 'cuz is nice to do so. 'Cuz is good to see that complete and say "Wohh! Look at this! It toke time, but woh! We did it!"
Task. Quest. Something cool to do together.
Not a punishment.

A stupid "Do this otherwise you're screwed!" thing is... quite uninteresting. When one is forced to do something in a game, that game just become heavy and useless for its purpose.
A useless item.
And it have been dropped.

I think devs pushed this too hard, thinking that a person can really care about a game That much, sacrificing itself, fearing conseguences. Someone would, prolly, but not a whole community.

The ark was doable. We seriously put in about 8%..if not more ourselves. The inspirationals sucked, but at the same time, 50 people could crank it out easy. Even solo it could have taken me a month of just making boards non stop.. but why do it for you guys? If you couldn't make some board piles and nails for animals.. the hell if I was going to do it for you.

My only criticism of the ark was that it should have been put in from the beginning, along with witches and animals. The delay wasn't cool. The objectives should have been put in place, not 'we will get to it in a month, why don't you guys build up in the meantime.' Much of the population was disillusioned at those junctions and it didn't do much to motivate, probably the opposite.

We didn't need locations of people or tracking of witches. Talk about being spoonfed.
