I've told a string of people who have been complaining about lag recently to downgrade to Java 7 as that helps. Most of whom have reported that it did.

There is a HUGE difference between a software issue and a network lag issue.

It would really be nice to get this game to Steam.

That would bring in a TON of new players.

Charge $4.99 and include the "Noobie Pack"

Salem would be king then, as it should be.

I really have to agree, I think there should be some priority in getting Salem onto Steam.

For one this game isn't marketed for a majority of the players. I doubt you would see much of a permanent increase from steam.

Also the game is on greenlight but its under software instead of the game section.

I have to disagree, do you see how many people are playing Tree of Life, Stardew Valley, and at least how many have tried Tactical Craft? I'm willing to bet at least 500-1000 more people will join permanently within a month, if not more.

Also is it possible to withdraw the submission as software and resubmit it as a game?

Do any of those have open looting and perma death? Those numbers you just threw out are extremely low for how many people use steam. I'm sure you are correct in that but who knows with how entitled most people are. Also selling anything thing on steam would actually take money away from the devs.

I have no idea but I would assume you could talk to valve support. It's been like that for over a year.

Okay, so Tactical Craft has a similar style to Salem, except its much less polished and kinda ugly IMO. Not sure how the gameplay is. Stardew Valley is a crafting/farming/mining/etc. game but is singleplayer. Tree of Life is open world looting and survival, very much like Salem. Not sure about permadeath. Anyway, all I am saying is that many games on the market have similar traits but none deliver all of them so well as Salem does. I think that even 500-1000 players in a single month is a big increase, as thats almost double the current playerbase right? And as for finances, I don't think it will cost anything to the devs except the initial cost of submitting the game into greenlight and then possibly some percentages off when the game is bought, say 3-4 dollars after 20-40% tax (no idea).

I ask again. Do any of those games have perma death?

I would estimate the actual player base to be around 200-300ish area. The avg just shows how many accounts have logged on.

It cost them 100$ to submit. Since it's already submitted they might just have to talk to support and get it moved.

Why in the ***** would they make people buy a FREE game FROM STEAM. The game is already free. Thats why a majority of people were attracted to it and stayed. You can't beat a solid put together free game. You know steam is going to take a cut of anything sold on it right? No tax, straight cut from the profits. They would be using steam as a way to advertise instead of lining Gabes pockets.

A lot of people pay for free games through steam, and by doing so they receive some sort of shop item (like the newbie pack previously suggested). For example, Town of Salem is a free browser game but it was greenlit on steam and with the purchase you get enough gold to buy some aesthetic outfit or whatever. Even if they don't buy it through steam at least more people will know about it and can therefore find the game to try it. Also, like I said I have no idea about perma-death but there are games on steam that have permadeath and a lot of people look for challenging games. As for the $100 I think you're right, because I read that once you pay for greenlight you can submit as many times as you want, since the 100 is more of a one time charge to join the service.

Also, even if a cut was taken, its not like MM would be losing money. They would be getting a lot more players and hence more money even if the profit is cut by a percentage.

So you listed a bunch of games what are not in fact permadeath mmos and have no relation to this game. Awesome.

You are acting like Salem is some unknown MMO. It's been fairly well known since 2012. Until recently it was linked in reddit's MMORPG subreddit sidebar.

Im not sure what you don't understand by them losing money with steam. Why sell anything on steam when there is already a store which everything goes to the devs TO IMPROVE THE GAME. I'm not saying "they shouldn't use steam" I'm saying they should have the game on steam as a advertisement and use the current store system. THERE IS ALREADY A NOOBIE PACK ON THE STORE. I don't understand why you are trying to defend them losing out on money that could go into art or game technology.

I think there is a post somewhere from Meow/John/Marp I'm not sure which but they talked about this. There is a lot of good and bad that comes with steam
