Terraforming Stone

Hi, i was searching around on the forum and the wiki, but couldnt find anything, Is there any way to raise stone tiles or is it only possible to lower?

not exactly true, but you can only raise the edges with dirt. So you can have an infinite quarry given a soil source, but you can never raise the inner part of a quarry without dev intervention.

What am I missing here? When you dig as much as you can from a stone or lime patch, you get the error "too steep". Adding more soil to edges would make it steeper, no?

yes, for the 'infinite' quarry, you can only dig around the edges (i.e. lower the edges to get boulders, raise the edges with dirt again).

Couldn't you expand the hole and get more stone that way? Once it's too steep to dig, just dig the edges and you can dig again from edge to center.
