it was fine before everything was ruined around christmas, other than a few notable exceptions i nailed after weeks of prep time and a cost of hundreds of thousands of silver the only towns that ever got hit were the ones with catastrophic design flaws and apathetic inhabitants that could not be bothered to try and defend themselves. and even those were a multiple day affair that was heavily weighted to the defenders advantage. since there were a grand total of about 15 people that had any tangible experience with raiding the chicken littles like the above fellow that thinks it is reasonable that a plank wall take 6 hours to get through got their way and here we are.
the fact that mouser, heffernan and a loose coalition of 8 other morons got their town rolled in 3 days and made repeated massive errors in their defense (like leaving their stones outside, derping around at the attack base, collecting water/chasing 5 stat bait alts on a 70 stat "main" during a siege and so on) at the exact moment JC came back after being completely out of the loop for 3 months did not help either.
the current situation is a kneejerk reaction to what amounted to the most idiotic display of defense in the games history, the incoming raider changes may change things but probably not by much, or if they do will have other consequences such as further dumbing things down to the point of he with the most bodies win. before the tea nerf under the old drain rate it took over an hour and a half for a 700 stat character to get through a brick wall that had no braziers, ANY town of note had on average 2 - 3 brick walls and 5 - 10 plank. after the tea nerf you can easily mutliply that time factor by ten because you will only be able to even be on the claim for approximately 6 minutes before passing out, and after about a minute and 15 seconds without the tea regeneration to keep your stats up the damage you are doing to the wall is negligible.
it was "balanced" before christmas where the defenders would literally have NEVER lost a town if they had bothered to defend yet the attackers would not have to spend 2 weeks on a deserted town.
it was balanced far better a year ago before the soak values were ramped up to the assinine levels they are currently at.
and yet still it was even MORE balanced during the days of jamestown/roanoke when a 1000 stat character could chew through a plank in 10 minutes and there was no TBC or stocks to **** on him with, i was solo back then to and everyone on both jamestown and roanoke was after me then just like now and yet i was never successfully raided.
the salem playerbase is weak, apathetic and nothing but sheep waiting to be eaten. as such the game was ruined to accommodate this reality and keep them from ragequitting on account of someone competent enough to fill braziers, repair walls or have a few combat fighters and the balls to use them being the extreme 1% rarity.
