Future Notes:
We have 3 more new Brazier types added. As well as a handful of new raiding skills, lockpicking skills, stealth skills, and other content we have been working on. We felt it the far safer approach to buff the defenses and penalties prior to implementing the new toys for raiders. Expect raiders to gain a new toolbox of abilities in the weeks to come and I highly suggest those on Providence prepare.... Cold Snap is coming...
also popham was a bust it was a ok theory but once again it wasnt balanced. the ark was a joke forcing people to put thousands of hours into building an ark while a single witch has to go to statues(i wont go further into this because i dont know exactly what the witch has to do to get to tier 3 but it cant take thousands of hours).
now that i think of it the overall issue is the devs dont know how to balance their own game.
I believe those future notes were from a good amount of time prior to the linked quote above, so they may have changed their minds. Since those notes there has been almost nothing about any upcoming raiding changes, you'd think they would have made an incremental adjustment by now if they were working on it.
As for the ark, as I said before, I think it could have worked if there was -some- way to prove to other players you had contributed X materials (some token you get with your name branded onto it like when you craft clothing, contribution log, etc) as then players who didn't want to build boards endlessly could instead reward players who did, either on Popham or Providence. But there was realistically no way to do that aside from a 3rd party literally standing there waiting for an hour or more as some rando ported boards endlessly... For that amount of time they might as well be making boards too so it's moot. I don't think some sort of system like that would have made it any less sandboxy since it's still not rewarding the player at all, just making it possible to prove. Without that, it was impossible for the mechanic to develop into anything so it just died.
