Hey I have two people on my friends list one of them is online, I try to message the one that is online and when I press enter it sets it up to message the other person that is offline. Also how do I switch to general area chat. Is there chat commands I can use other then just right click and select "Chat"?

When It shows the character online that only means the character is in world not that the player is online. If the character die, doesn't have a leanto, or is carrying an object it will stay logged in even if the player is logged out.

you can press ctrl-C or the little chat bubble on the bottom left to expand the chat interface. That way, you can choose which channel you are speaking in.
