people like to clog up the place with dead plague alts, i would be surprised if those were actual newbies dying from anything other than the stocks

There was a time in the distant past where alts (extra characters on same account) would hang around in town as extra storage vessels- the phenomena was called 'alt banking'... and it was abused.

Then JC made a change...every alt must have a lean too...at which point there must have been a huge purge of all lean toos... honestly I don't know...I got killed months before and took a break.

What folks knew or didn't care or didn't realize... was that not every 'bank alt' in creation died when the rule went into effect. Folks like me who were already gone... our alts survived.

When I returned to the game... I added at least 10 more corpses around town. I just stripped them of value and let them go mad and die in town.

Ofc there are new players who don't have a clue who get diseases and figure it's easier to start over vs fix the problem...

So- the town is always full of death and disease... the stork mask sells well; and if you don't want to join them... don't linger in town longer than necessary.

Point is- you have returning players all the time... and every one likely has a host of bank alts... that need to be cared for and/or will be left to die... which keeps the town full of death.

From what I understand, most of the corpses you see are either criminals, or the diseased. For some reason, no one wants to send the sick out into the wilderness to die, they want to put them where everyone else can see them. Basically another way of besieging providence, as I see it, since you get your **** pushed in if you attempt a trial by fire on providence. Just stay away from living people and fresh corpses, you should be fine. skeletons are safe, for now...
