Proficiency Books (Store Item)

I think it would be an interesting way to increase proficiency caps by reading books over time. Here's how I imagine it would work:

The player buys a mystery book crate from the store for about $50. Random book is given with a proficiency icon on it. To read the book, a player must be sitting in a chair, and the chair would decide the max amount of points given per second (cap could be around 10 per second). The bar would fill up as if you were studying something, except no inspiration would be lost, and the higher the cap the longer it would take. Also, if a player stops reading, he would lose whatever points he gained during that session and gain insanity (for losing his place). The books would have unlimited uses but would only raise one proficiency level, not two. It could take up to a few hours if the player's proficiency cap is high enough, which is fair compared to leveling with inspirationals. I think this would be a fun way to use passive proficiency gains as a higher level player.

Added item could be an NPC Shop inspiration book. Could cost up to 50k+, and when reading it in a chair your inspiration rate would increase by 1-200%.

To let you know similar ideas are being discussed by the Bjebr in the 33 degrees forum. You may want to share some ideas you have with him. I am sure he would appreciate the opinions.

Not P2W at all. I've only ever bought 2 harvest packs and I'd be able to buy these books with ingame currency. Whoever chooses to spend money on these books can do so, they will still have to spend massive amounts of time reading (whereas they could be collecting "free" inspirationals to study). Also, any store items that aren't immensely overpowered (like memento mori IMO) should be looked upon as a good thing. Salem is a free game and the Devs have to make money somehow, and items like these are unique and balanced for the playstyle we have ingame

There are some nice things being discussed with books but I don't think its going to be passive prof gains in the end.
