Minimap Sizing

Postby mgwerner » Fri Jan 22, 2016 8:40 am

I have had a look through the forum, thinking this must have been addressed somewhere, but have not been able to find anything.

Is there a way to change the size of the minimap? Too small for me to clearly make out the icons.

Cheers!

If I scroll my mousewheel while hovering over the minimap, it zooms in and out.

I've messed around with the options a lot, though, so I'm not sure if it does that by default.

+1, also if you click and drag the bottom right corner you should be able to make the minimap "window" larger or smaller, and click and dragging on the edge moves it around.

I wish you could zoom in more than the max (i think it starts zoomed in max by default) zoom, but I don't believe that's currently possible on any of the 3 main clients.

Lower right corner worked, thanks. No joy on the scroll wheel. I checked the options before, and did again, saw nothing that would indicate an way to do as you suggest. Any idea what you might have changed? Nothing seems to be in the config, either.....

A little better, now, but my old eyes need help with those tiny icons.

Cheers!

Make sure your cursor is over the minimap while you scroll... Which client are you using?

Default. I could not get the other to connect once it started up. I'm in China, which is probably the problem.

China is always part of the problem :P Just kidding. I'm in Singapore so I can say you have being in the same timezone with almost no one to look forward to xD

edit - Joking aside, the Latikai client is super neat if you're ever able to get it to work. That may be why you're not able to zoom, at one point I'm pretty sure the default client couldn't do that, not sure if it's still the case as I haven't used it for well over a year.

make sure you launch the custom clients with their respective JNLP's, or with the right commandline (they need the game server as a command line argument) if you start the JAR. Aside from that they use the same communication protocol/settings as the default.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to doing things like this, and I only understand about half of what you are saying. Is there a step-by-step set of instructions that I can go by to make sure which file is in the right place?

When I did attempt to get the client to run, I got to the login screen and it would not connect. Gave a message like "game.salemthegame.com." Also, it did not have long enough to actually make a connection, the message (in red letters above the Login box) was immediate.

Cheers

Well, since it is Chinese New Year, and my wife still has to work, I'll be online a lot. Still getting my feet under me, but would be willing to consider doing some trading at some neutral location. Enjoying the startup slog, right now.
