More stall please!

Postby insiqmeyer » Wed Jan 20, 2016 3:49 am

Can you please add more stalls or do something about people hogging multiple stalls. Half of the stalls don't even have anything in them for month. I feel like you should either limit one per player or making it harder to maintain them so people don't own multiple at once or more stall please. I been playing for couple of month and I been checking on them everyday and haven't got a chac ne to buy one yet.

They are one per player.

*one per character, thus multiple characters = multiple stalls

but i think the more of a problem are the empty ones or those not selling in a long time when many ppl need a stall.

The only solution I really see to this is raising the rent so that these stalls run out more frequently.

Can't you put some kind of decay system on them where when it fall under some percent it will become available for other to lease? Basically, a player have to fix it once a week. I am afraid raising the rent would be costly. I never owned one yet so I am not sure about the profit.

My suggestion for this area is putting a group of stalls that are FAR cheaper to rent (2k or so) but you only get them for 2 weeks, and have to be present when your time expires if you wish to purchase its use for another 2 weeks. All items in the stall at the end of the 2 weeks are purged.

Essentially it would work more like a farmer's market

Stall rent is far too cheap, it should be raised.

Rent is not too cheap. I work my stall and keep it stocked. Problem is bigger players come in and undercut my prices. So I lower prices and thus cannot make enough money to keep the stall if the rent is raised. If you want stall turnover to increase, I suggest tying it to number of transactions per week, not to rent. Of course, then someone can just buy from their own stall to keep it active. But the 35% tax should discourage too much of that type of activity.

The problem isn't that the rental price is too low, the problem is empty stalls that sell nothing and aren't used. Make it so they have to use the stalls or they lose them.

Instead of raising the rent, what you should do is make it so that rent increases exponentially the longer the stall doesn't sell anything at all. This way the empty stalls and the stalls with stuff in them but not selling anything would start losing more money.

The way this would work:

If a stall doesn't sell anything for a month the rent would double. If it doesn't sell anything for 2 months it doubles again. etc...

This would clear most legacy stalls with thousands of silver in them by summertime or force rich players to actually sell things and USE their stalls.

Another option would be to simply free up any stall that doesn't sell anything for 3 months and put any money in the stall plus part of the auctioned purchase price in the bank for the player. This would also free up the stalls.

Maybe the bottom 5% in revenue get cleared and refunded to the owner each month so as long as your stall isn't running with the absolute worst stalls in the server then it won't get cleared. If it's just number of transactions, or whether or not a stall has made a sale, then people would list things for 1 silver and buy it back themselves with no relevance to the cost of tax. Plus stalls would always get freed up each month since there will always be a bottom 5%, so people eager to get one will always have a chance.

That would also go towards addressing the issue raised in another thread where the tax revenue top towns get isn't very high right now.
