Other than JC, Marp, and TotallyMeow, the devs have always seemed very nice.

They are. But they do troll very much. In the forums that's plain to see. In game, that's another matter. No one really have proof but there are a lot of suspicions that they 'abuse' their dev powers.

I bracketed 'abuse' because in most games we talk about dev abuse when they interfere with the gameplay of players in an unfair fashion. I'm not sure it's the case in Salem. For good or bad it's not for me to judge. The mystery of the dev abuse is just another mystery to add to the long list of drama that makes Salem.... well... Salem.

They gave me a kicking when, in a sleep deprived fit of idiocy I did something to interfere with the Witch stuff that they told us not to do specifically, but I deserved it, probably.
I didn't die or anything, and it was a good experience to firm up my technique for "not going crazy and dying".

My guess is your friend asked for help because he was stuck. So the devs KOed him to get him teleported to his Leanto and solved the problem. Your friend got mad for no reason and saying '***** you' to a dev is a very valid reason to get banned.

Even if it didnt happen like that exactly, remember that Devs are like Gods and in Salem there are no gentle Gods.
