Is no one using up their inspiration? I do nothing else on some chars and they never get mad.

Sharpened sticks are whittling and so is making crucifixes. So if whittling removes a little bit of insanity when you make 30 wood blocks which takes about a minute to chop up you can craft 30 sharpened sticks then 15 crucifixes. Very cheap way to just reduce insanity a bit and if you do that every couple hours you will never have a problem with it and never use up inspiration. Besides chopping down the trees to replenish your wood reserves every once in a while also gets you wooden crosses which greatly reduces the amount.

And very frequently gets you abandoned birds nests that slightly add insanity. :P

Why would you not use up at least some of your inspiration?

I do but I usually do things in waves.

I burn inspiration on things I want.
Then I work my mine.
Then work the fields.
Then the gardening pots.
Then prep my manufacturing coal clamps and dry boards as needed.
Then craft inspirations for the next burn.

I found among the tasks that are insane and the ones that are not switching between a task that reduces insanity and one that does not balances it overall to not gain any. That is why I left popham so long ago I was the group hunter and hunting all the time got kinda boring and I had to balance madness.

Might be because I am that green guy ^^ but I usually keep flowers on me or at least in range, and just use 10+ of them once an hour if I did not do anything that would reduce insanity otherwise like planting pots or cooking.
Daisies are very efficient for this purpose, especially if you are improving your FnF anyways, or even SnC or HnS... wood choppings themself are nice, too, especially for HnN.
