I am dismayed though, that you think that some of the unpleasant things Muslims believe are only the beliefs of extremists. Do you know what the difference between extreme beliefs and normal Muslim beliefs is? Do you know where they differ? It's not in the way they treat their women. Though dress code and the like are only vaguely mentioned in the Quran, the traditions of Islam, which almost all of them follow, dictate that women must wear the hijab and concealing clothing or even burkas in public and women can be beaten if they don't. Like, it's an allowed and normal part of Islam to beat your wife! Some primarily Islamic countries actually have laws about how women must dress and they are cruel ones considering the climates of some of those areas. Maybe being a man you don't quite understand, but the thought of this behavior spreading is pretty chilling.
