with out doing the CHORES to reduce insanity you gain a madness level every 4 hours.... it is a FACT.
if you do the CHORES forced on you then you wont gain a madness level... but if you don't then you WILL gain a madness level every 4 hours.
*i rarely gain a madness level my self... but it is because of the FORCED CHORES i do to prevent it*

Oh, wow. Is there an emoji for mindblown cuz that is what I feel. If I had realized earlier that all this chores talk was about combating madness I never would've wasted my time or thoughts on it.

it was added to try and enhance the survival aspect of the game as well as keep people from dodging the stocks.
it how ever dose not a survival aspect to the game.
it doesn't stop people from dodging the stocks either.... as crime alts are not effected by the negative effects of madness as they don't uses tools or forage.
*not that people fear loosing their 50 bile crime alt that took like 30 minutes to get the skills and biles on*

i don't think that people dying in the stocks due to madness was originally intended... just kind of an unforeseen consequence of a not very well thought out patch.

a BETTER way of doing this would have been to make it so that you have a debuff that builds up as you commit crimes... and after it fills up you can not commit any more crime until you have logged out for (X) amount of time.... but not this set 8HRs BS.... make it so that for every 30 minutes you are offline it removes (X) amount of points depending on how long you have gone with out being stocked.

The noob you mentioned would have quit the game anyways, you have no idea how many stupid people go around leaving waste scents unprotected because they just want to die.

You gain madness lvls while in stocks, you again madness lvls if you leave your char logged in afk......
The only thing that force criminals to leave their chars logged in is to avoid the permanent loss of biles while in stocks....... or the huge F&F timer they might gain

so pretty much for a higher level crime alt it is still safer to stay logged in so you can smoke tobacco and not loose biles..... good thing this patch was really thought threw.

Come on Tool you have beat this subject into the ground. Can't believe you are still crying over madness. Get over it already or you will force me to build a second water tower for your tears.

i would get over it if:
people would come back to salem....
JC lets me run an other server... even if it is just an "easy difficultly" server to his "hard core" server.
I am able to start my video game development company

or most importantly if i find a nice girl willing to marry me..... then i wont have time for salem any way.

Who said that the patch was to prevent others from leaving characters logged in?
Why couldn't it be just to add more challenge to the game for idiots like yourself who cannot handle it?
I'm catching my ass to gain madness lvls (unless i lick boards) and you're complaining about it's too hard to handle?
I've honestly NEVER grown tobacco since it was released
