That's the whole point. Games like these are about giving you freedom at a cost. You can choose to be a jerk, but you then also open yourself up to being punished for it. The game isn't going to just let you run around doing whatever you like. If you want to be a criminal and not get caught and killed then you're going to need to do it properly.

It's been worse in other games. I recall reading about some game set in ancient egypt where the playerbase made up a little society and could come together to pass "laws" which became game rules, essentially. One of the lovely things they could pass would be to exile you, from the entire game. If you were obnoxious, mean, rude, or otherwise unpleasant to be around they could actually take away your ability to play.

Salem's a pretty blunt and realistic game. If you want to screw with other people, take away their hard work, and ruin their fun, then you can. The same opportunities are going to be extended to them though.

That is a highly romanticized view of how A Tale in the Desert works. The reality is full of ***** feuds between drama kings and queens.

As for death and all that junk. You can build walls and braziers to defend both your stuff from raiders and your life from "rangers". It's a large time investment to protect yourself from the consequences of your actions but that's how it works.

Currently that system is being revamped. Even the best defended places can be cracked. New walls and siege weapons are going to shake things up sometime soon.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

Dallane couldn't be more right. If you value your character, don't leave summonable scents like Larceny or Waste.

If they revmaped it will be ok.

Yeah the start was a bit tricky because some writed I get ported to them etc. build up a base with defend needs only a few hours but a very strong needs a while (with Stonewall etc.) that what I want to know now, is how exactly brazier work and how I improve my defence more.

If you have some Tips I would be happy :)

And NO I steal if they are online but I also not care if they are offline, if they do somethink I just kill them, most of them are 3-4 Hit (for now) but I not go arround and kill everythink or steal, I just steal Important thinks that I need, stuff that "we" not need I not steal.

I also will not destroy anythink from guys, because I don't want to ruin their gameplay, rape a base is stupid, I think steal is ok but destroy Houses etc is just beeing a ashole

Which crimes you commit is up to you, of course, but don't be surprised to find your char gone when you log back in one morning ;)
