i add fuel every 12 hours, never got a dross. just watch it often towards the end to take the coffins out of the furnace quickly when they are done.

I let the furnace go down to 20 before refilling with branches, one time the bars were in the furnace for a full day after they were done, and it still gave me blistersteel.

I haven't let mine below 60, and still a 100% blistersteel streak. And i've made quite a lot.

I couldn't find what the fuel consumption rate was, so I figured it might be 6-10 hours, which would make it a venture for townspeople and un-/self-employed hermits.
