Vetting player for Town Membership

Postby Frakked » Thu Nov 12, 2015 3:47 am

Title says it all really

I know what I would ask... but I'm asking the community- what others might hide and how to sort it out.

When someone new enters you circle of influence...how do you deal with it.

How, why, when, where, what is the new perp...

Asking for tips, suggestions.

PS- I've sent application requests to every 'new' player so far...none have bothered to reply... were they put off by reputation... or more likely couldn't cover their ass? Who knows... and it's not really that important.

Wondering what I might not have asked... if it ever comes up.

They probably find your overuse of ellipses annoying and don't want to see it in village chat every day.

The best way to get town members is to first join someone else's town and/or trade with people and/or make friends on the forum or in game and eventually get some of them to join a town with you as mayor.

Once you have a town and a few people, you must have enough going for you to make your town attractive to others because you're going to want to test them, and if you have nothing to give them once they pass the tests, they have no reason to want to join. So, make sure your town is prosperous and well-run. So, testing: you get them to gather things you need, help build walls and defenses, hunt animals, do whatever various things a non-member or trial member can do. Then, when they have earned their way in, you make them a full member and give them all the nice things your town has access to that's harder for a hermit to get. The point of testing, obviously, is to keep potential raiders from just sneaking into your town easily, they'll have to give you a lot of time and resources before they get in and most will not want to do that, but a real candidate will.

And/or you can be baldly betrayed by folks you trusted explicitly and get killed off... thanks...it's how Frakked (Original) got killed.

There was no Trial of Combat...they just opened all the doors for the raiders... and laughed as I was killed off. Imagine they quit the game soon after...not that it helped me any.

Yeah... your way sounds awesome... another perfectly awesome ***** over!

No Thanks

Prefer to pick from the tree than the barrel... thing is... not every on the 'tree' is really new.

Sounds like you should be a hermit.

Its hard to pick from the tree when you are squatting in the bottom of a barrel.

Paranoia will destroy any town.

i periodically have new players ask me for advice on whether or not they should join group xyz or fellow abc, you have been inquired about twice to me and i have steered them away from you and toward others instead.

im glad to see that apparently they listened and that i have boosted the odds for two folks to stick with the game vs joining a tard and getting wiped out before they learn how to play.
