Mines and Tunneling

Postby Hooseplobber » Sat Oct 31, 2015 7:39 pm

If I build my mine in the middle of my claim/town, behind multiple layers of walls and defenses and so forth, can somebody else build a mine outside of my wall, tunnel over to my mine, and climb up into the middle of my base? Or are mines all considered separate areas in Salem, unless linked by the ninth level? I'm getting the impression it's the latter, recently, which is why I want to ask, as I had been under the impression from my experience with Haven and Hearth that people could tunnel into my town if I put a mine in the middle of it.

Unfortunately mines are all separate until you hit layer 9. At that point people can come into your mine through the bottom layer. I really hope this changes soon.

If they ever did change mines to all connect without level 9 it would be a huge hassle to code and keep everyones current mines intact without messing anything up. Seeing as how dream world is a special place with extra benefits I can see why they made it like that.

I doubt it would be a huge hassel, you are basically just spawning a few more map layers on top of each other. Hnh has had it for years, I doubt loftar would of left it out here.

However everyone would more than likely lose their mine due to how it currently is. I think it would be worth it in the long run. You could make dreamworld more of a mystical place instead of going down a mine layer every week.

while i am pretty fond of haven's mine system where everything is interconnected i also like the way it is currently with dreamworld in salem, makes it so that when folks finally do tap into the bottom it is more rewarding and not every newb gets to use the "subway"
