Death of the Deer

What are the recommended humors and strategies for deer slaying? I have become bored with beaver bashing and I feel that deer overpopulation is becoming a real threat to the livelihood of my crops!

If you bullrush, you can get 2 thrusts off with the second just as they wake up.
Keep Run on.

Here's a nice writeup. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12911

The most important thing about fighting deers, is not getting charged.
Therefore don't let any distance in between you and the deer, not even 1 tile, or keep and obstacle (tree, old log) in between whereas you can also hit with stomp from behind the cover if it is close.

A sabre is slow with thrust, use only after a succesful stun with bullrun or stomp, otherwise club as in the linked thread above.

As long as you don't get hit by a charge, 50 humors are very well sufficient to hunt deers.

If you feel unsure yet, use tea buff to get an advantage, yellow and blood, just one flask (10 stacks) each before the fight.

If you have the custom client with gob paths it makes it much easier to dodge a charge and go to where the deer will stop its charge and Stomp + Thrust or Roundhouse Kick.

Gob Path 1(Deer gob path not constantly on your character)
Step 1: Slingshot or Follow the deer around till its gob path is long enough to get in front of him and stomp, but don't stomp too close or else he will either run or hit you before you stomp. That is why you need the deer to walk into the stomp by being in front of its gob paths.

Step 2: Run away after you hit him with a stomp+one other quick attack.(Punch, Thrust, Roundhouse kick)

The wiki and other people may say "stay close so he doesn't ram" but trust me when I say the deer will just walk away and ram you if it feels like it even when you are really close.

Step 3: Run directly away and be prepared to side step when the deer charges so you can go next to where he will stop and rinse and repeat stomp+quick attack.
Alt. Step 3: IF you don't have fast enough reflexes I suggest shimmying left and right as you run away from it, the deer will either charge to the far right or far left because when it starts its charge it anticipates not your sporadic movement pattern but the last known direction and speed of your character and charges to where you were going to be had you continued to run in that one direction.

Gob Path 2(Deer gob path is constantly on your character and the deer runs towards you until it reaches you)

The deer is no longer in charge mode, it will run at you and use a headbutt when this gob path is in action.

Step 1: Walk up to the deer and the step to the side when you are close enough because the deer will be in the middle of headbutting/starting its headbutt.

Step 2: Stomp+Quick Attack since the deer can't get away during step 1.

Step 3: Run away from the deer as its attack pattern will switch again and its highly likely the deer will switch back to charge mode.
