Madness

Did anyone else wake up this morning to all of their madness randomly gone? I went to sleep with 2 and my wife went to sleep with 4 but we both now have 0.

right after you log in your madness will be 0, until you get a "reminder"from the server. This can often take a while, and I think it is only sent when you receive an insanity tick.
If after 10-15 minutes your madness is still 0, consider yourself lucky -- and PLEASE share what you did
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

How old are your characters?

I know I logged out (not in a bed) on my main with lvl 1 and logged in to lvl 1 so no change there.
So either they decided to remove madness from all chars younger than 48h. Or they changed how sleep works when it comes to madness (unlikely).
Or what Kandarim said is true :)

@kataklinger: it's not that young characters can't get mad anymore, it's just that they do not accumulate insanity passively (i.e. by doing nothing). They can still get mad by licking boards and the like, so I doubt that their madness levels were nuked.

Characters are all a week old. Been logged in a couple hours now. Logged out as usual with teddy in the bed about 12 hours beforehand. Madness is still gone. Gone from my mining character that logged out with 1 madness and not in a bed too.

I know that but unless it is a bug I dont see how else it would Acids characters lose there madness while being logged out.
What I am saying is that JC was feeling generous and removed all madness from all (or some) characters that are younger than 48h.
Did you make those characters a week ago or have you checked with timekeeper how old are your chars Acid?

hmmmm this is probably a mixture of things. His madness is in fact showing (0) when he logs in, however, his character is less than 48 hours old so it is simply not "updating" because he is not doing something that would passively raise or lower it. The temporary fix for characters under 48 hours old would be to pick a flower or study something and see if your madness still stays at 0. (as that would force an update)

Could someone be immune to madness if they don't force a update?

Nah, its a UI glitch due to poor implementation on my part. So until you 'change' your madness you log in showing 0 despite whatever you actually have. For most people the 'change' in madness was going to happen in 5 seconds anyway. Now that this is not exactly the case for players less than 48 hours old (Thats 48 hours of playtime, not 48 hours of character creation) its not exactly a 'given' that they will receive an update. Although, to be fair, even once you study a single thing or pick a flower, etc. etc. etc. you should 'update' so it is probably not the end of the world.

I aquired two madness levels with the custom client with Bood Moon occurecd; but when I logged in under the default- madness gone, but I had rat disease... I cured it... and logged out. I logged default client b/c custom was under constructionu. Next I logged into custom... 10 hours later... I had one Madness and no rat disease.

Something definitely going on there.
