Defence related question

Postby iordanis21 » Sat Oct 10, 2015 8:42 pm

Hello all!

Just a quick defence related question:

I know about the brazier - torchpost - brazier building pattern.

What if i skip the torchpost any build only braziers all around?
Besides the cost problem, isn't it preferable as it is more powerful?

I understand that the answer seems obvious but i just wanted to be sure.

Many thanks :)

You will have less damage output.

Torchpost and braziers damage now stack as different damage types.

Back in early salem days, they were same damage types, so having both was bad.

If you build only braziers, you will have less damage output.

Braziers sacrifice range for power, and torch post sacrifice power for range

For optimal protection a balance between the two is always good. However a base with tons of braziers are usually raided into less.

A kindly worded sign also goes a long way.

So the wiki is wrong? It still has them lessening each other. I don't remember any changes. I trust you've tested it.... but you're positive about it being current, right?

Do you have a link to the thread with the patterns for me? I'm curious what the current pattern is, after all the massive raids this last couple of months.

They stack with diminishing returns with the more you put, but 6 braziers will still do more damage than 2 braziers, also higher chance of crits.

There also havent been any massive raidslately every town thats been partially or fully destroyed either had bad defenses, was broken from the inside, or failed to keep up with current mechanics.

This is very easy to find. I haven't verified this as fact for myself, but it is the latest published account of the issue that I am aware of.

I recall seeing that max damage for multiple braziers firing is 25, but that could be before this update or before, after, above, below anything else in. It didn't matter too much to me to remember it, because it didn't factor into my situation. I assume 25 means 0% pure and referencing bb.

Arcadia had decent defense (especially walls) and 'The Jewel' is still up thanks to L33's defense and Pclaim even if the Bell is down, I don't know about Juda's town but he usually builds pretty good defense from what I've seen. The Polish town and Helm's deep are the only 2 I know of that fell from the inside recently.

Anyways, thanks for the info. I guess the wiki needs to be changed.

Their defenses were not good at all.

This has been known for many months.
