People who continue to use "ISIS" really make me cringe, you never say USAUSA, UKUK or EUEU.

At least just say IS or daesh. Calling them ISIS, does nothing.

It does not stand for just islamic state man. It is Islamic State of Iraq and Levant(Syria). So it is ISIL or ISIS depending on points of view. Basically whether or not you think the syria is entitled to the entire Mediterranean or not. They refer to that group because they are basically trying to rebuild the Ottoman empire.
