this is very true for older games

but these days games like morrowind ,skyrim, the witcher, grand theft auto, mind craft and garys mod... and so on... most of all online games... have really made people expect more.... most of all for a game like salem that is suppose to be a sandbox open world game.

while yes there are people that want to add things to salem to make it more like a normal MMORPG.... or as you say a SIM maybe.

but most of us want simple tweaks to the already existing systems.... like being able to play with out being forced to whittle sticks... or being able to place ore boulders right next to each other with out facing them all the exact same way.

sorry for the very late replies.... everyone i played salem with quit... and all my villages have been raided.

Are you ***** serious when comparing SALEM to those games?

Confirmed weeaboo doesn't know ****, and is just bad at the game. If you don't like it, leave. If you want to change things, post it in the Ideas section. If you're looking for themepark game mechanics, the door is that way ->

You're not ***** forced to whittle sticks, i'm sick of hearing this ***** **** all ***** day from you, are you stupid?! STUDY A FEW INSPIRATIONALS EVERY HOUR AND YOU WILL NEVER GAIN A SINGLE MADNESS LEVEL, COMBINE THAT WITH HAVING A TEDDYBEAR AND AFFLUENCE SET FOR GOOD MEASURE. STOP WHINING ABOUT A MECHANIC YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!

Oh and, you can place ore boulders right next to eachother without facing the right way.

do you even play this game?

i have said this many times now... i have read the ***** patch notes... i know the things you need to do to combat insanity... and no studying insperationals dose not stop madness levels.... and no you can not place boulders right next to each other with out facing them all the same exact way...

and trying to quote darwoth or dallen or who ever says "themepark" game.... you seem to really not understand what the ***** they are talking about either...

you have ZERO clue about salem and you have ZERO clue what people are talking about that you are quoting and you have ZERO clue about the past events of salem history.
you sir are a little kid playing the surgery board game calming to be a doctor... we are not fooled by your act.... get off the forums actually play ***** salem and then come try and talk to us.

But the thing is, I play Salem more than you. I might not have as long a history as you do, but being as thick as you are, you don't see what your problem is.

Studying inspirationals combats INSANITY, which in turn combats MADNESS. This is the only thing you have been whing about, madness being broken bla bla bla.

Learn how to play and stop being a little ***** crying about not having an asian wife.

Oh and btw, the "themepark" game term is common knowledge, not something limited to this forum, lol.

Then why is such a simple mechanic, that even my 6y old brother can understand, so hard for you?

It's nothing gamebreaking, but still annoying to have to remember about it and sometimes stop what you are doing to deal with insanity. It's a chore. Just like having to regen phlegm when you work. The question is whether this aditional chore makes the game more fun.

Procne wrote:TBH I don't really understand why people say it feels like a job. Almost all mechanics which people tend to grind are related to progressing your character, mainly producing food. But the main reason people do that is because they want to stay competitive, to be stronger than enemies. So the bottom line - people grind and work because other people grind a lot too. The only solutions would most likely come in a form of gating mechanics or diminishing returns. Which we already have in forms of F&F debuff, passive inspiration generation and damage formula. And the natural outcome of that is that the more resourceful people start producing alts, because that gives more bang for buck than trying to further improve a titan.

No matter what is done it will always be the same - people who put more effort into the game will be stronger. If you want to compete with them you will have to put similar amount of effort. But it is YOUR choice if you want to do that. The game feels like a job? Then slow down. You won't be competitive but do you really expect to be so when other people are simply much more resourceful?

I thought that's what hardcore pvp games are about.

To me the expression salem is a job translate in that in JC vision if you are not able to play 8-12hs per day you cannot be a "real player", most of the new players that post here and say "everythung is fien xD" play more than enough to notice that if you just play 2hs per day you wont be able to achive pretty much nothing even if you play in a town(im not talking people should be competitive by playing 2hs but at least have fun which they wont since the game has turn really linear in progression and has a lot of stuff that you cannot omit to play for example have alts). There needs to be grind obviously but most grinds in salem are boring and tedious "chores" and every new mechanic brings a whole new grindy stuff to do, for example when they wanted to people stop repairing walls in sieges so easily instead of making repair a passive action in which you drop material and wait "x" ammount of time to repair(lets say 2hs) they increase the materials required making a mechanic that force you to horde. So when you have to play 6-8hs to become an averange player and you are forced to do chores at least for the first weeks till you finish your settle its a kinda of job, imo salem has really little retention player i doubt a that most of the players that start it play more than a week before quitting. I dont get it why the devs of this game ask for the opinions of people that are playing(when they are a few and clearly havent play the game enough and the ones that did are diehardfanboys) and not to hundreds of people that left the game.
The pvp is awesome in salem but the lack of a griefer comunity has left the goods aspects of salem pretty much dead and as a result of mechanics like TBC most of the griefers/pvps players just left the game, so this mechanics ends unexplored by most and you see the lack of drama and action in the forums.

I remember when kia was banned from the game(he couldnt log + his alts gained 7 or so madness levels instantly) coz JC got mad about the ***** in his announcement thread of insanity maybe they somehow ***** his alts if not i cannot explain why kia has such a hard time dealing with insanity.

Half true; as half the game is simulation of politics in general. ¦]

Like all SeaTribe games. Except Salem is half that now. Forever. Half the drama, half the fun. #StillNotH&H

OMG......... AGAIN......... I..... UNDERSTAND..... HOW..... IT.... WORKS........................ ***** hell....

It is hard for me because IT DOESN'T ***** WORK
it is a bother
a job
a chore
a pain in the ass
it forces me to log out
there is no meter to manage it
it ***** with your items
it is a giant ass ***** troll mechanic that doesn't do **** for the game..... it has ZERO positive impact in the game.... you gain NOTHING from this mechanic.

it forces you to do pointless **** like sharpen a bunch of ***** sticks you have no use for so you are just going to drop them in the water/void because you just wasted 25 minutes of time doing a pointless complete waste of time thing so you can keep ***** playing.

it is like having some one at work that throws eggs at you randomly and you have to bring a few extra spare cloths with you to work because you know your going to get eggs thrown at you..... what do these eggs do for your life?... nothing.... because after you change your cloths your still going to be a sticky smelly ***** mess.
