Best ways to trade aggro for mobs like deers

When hunting with two or more people, what is the best way to switch aggro? I thought guns would work well but it seems hitting the dang thing can be very difficult once it is charging around the map.

I have found that working in a group having one or two players using clubs works wonders since the club attack is very quick and interups most attacks. Other players can use swords for the higher damage attack. Im hunting skills are very much lacking though so here is likely a much better way to go about things
