WTT Humor boost for menial labor

Postby Wandering » Sun Sep 13, 2015 10:24 pm

My humors are <20 and I'm still wandering around picking up stuff as I explore.

Occurs to me that some of you know how to level humors quickly; and may also have some disagreeable tasks to do? Digging up boulders, watching kilns, feeding kilns, etc..

Willing to trade experience/knowledge/food ~ time/labor; help me get my humors into the 50's ... so long as it doesn't involve scents.

I'm not opposed to joining a group; but congeniality is everything...and can hardly be determined from a Forum Post.

PM me in forums if you think we can help each other.

To pre-empt the first easy question... I want to be able to do big game hunting~ bear/cougar and survive 'twilight' darkness.. and I want to do both in 4 weeks playing 18-12 hours a week.

If you don't find any takers, and you have swamps or greenwood biomes anywhere nearby, you could easily get to the 60's or even 70's with Froghetti, basic nuts and berries, and mushrooms (boiling if poisonous). I found that Froghetti made low-level gluttony a breeze.

After that you would probably want to start gardening garlics and mushrooms (mostly garlics) for Garlic-Stuffed Mushrooms. I know from experience that Froghetti and GSMs with scattered straight-off-the-ground berries and stuff would carry you to the 120's.

After that you might want to look into making a Turkey Coop.

It's really easy. The hardest part is making a bunch of gardening pots, which isn't a Herculean task. I'm a complete newbie and I have fairly high humors already.

I appreciate your candor...I will look for those biomes.

I tried to keep everything within 5 humors... but 90% of all went to Black Bile... I have been using Salem wiki nonstop; but clueless or just haven't figured it out.

IDK... to raise blood... I always have a big downtime... always!

Been reading forums somewhat.. population crapping out or just on expedition server?

To me, relative nwb,...that's a lot of work, for short gain...and then if you win... you get deleted anyway to start again from scratch?!

Are you on Providence? I believe that Prov has been designated a permanent server, whereas the expedition servers (like Popham) eventually come to an end.

Here are the different ingredient bonuses (Double up on one type) for making Garlic-Stuffed Mushrooms from a doc I made.

Phlegm
Sugar Caps 46-66
Lavender Blewit 46-66
Blood
Lobster Mushroom 46-66
Toadstool* 50-71
Yellow Bile
Lobster Mushroom 46-66
Yellow Morel* 50-71
Black Bile
Witch's Hat* 50-71
*must be boiled (poisonous)

Froghetti is Caterpillar (you can find tons of them in myrtle oak bushes or randomly lying around) for blood, Snail for phlegm, Grub for yellow bile, Beetle for black bile.

There are plateaus in this game. You're on the "what you just find isn't good enough anymore" plateau. But without a ton of work you can become much stronger over time. A few weeks ago I used to be instakilled by cougars; now I've killed two out of the last three that attacked me.

I have done this same thing. Start date over there. -->
I'm at 160 biles.

Autumn Delight, Froghetti, and Garlic Mushrooms. These would be more useful if you play often since they are 90% reducers in their group and have a low debuff time. While your biles are low enough, like yours are now, and you can forage these while doing other things and cook them at the same time, then taking one of each will give you +3 biles, thus making the debuff timer very low instead of the default 45 minutes. When I was doing it, I found myself raising my biles much faster than I had time to forage enough of these.

When you hit that limit, add berries or mushrooms on a stick to them to still hit +3 biles at a time. When you get to 80ish biles, you'll need to take any two of the three for 1 bile per 30 minutes. It was about 100 biles when I had to start considering raising the aether of the foods to keep this pace up. Of course, you can raise the aether earlier or later depending on how well that fits into whatever else you are doing at the same time.

There may be better ways of doing this for you, but I found it to be the most effective for me based on my style of play.

Moved this from Tradewinds. This is more of a Help discussion OR it's more of a Planters & Pilgrims discussion.

There are a few humps like this until you get to the purity grind of farming and mining. Always try asking for help. There's more than a few here that are more than willing to give you more than simple advice without requiring a bunch of game time in labor from you. Doing basic work is a good way to meet new people and learn a ton of new things, but a lot of the labor requires them trusting you, too, and letting you into their camp, which can be a huge mistake in this game.
