Somewhat newbish questions Vol. II

Postby Eslake » Sat Aug 29, 2015 5:43 am

Again, most of the really good questions were forgotten through the day and I'm left with these.
I'd tie string to my finger to remind me to write them down but I would just forget the string was there.

#1 - The 'wiki' says that Carts can be lifted, but we've been unable to. Is it no longer an option or does it require a minimum in a certain humor?

#2 - Does the Meat Grinder have a purpose? Debated building one to try but it would be a real waste of resources if it has no use.

#3 - I've seen places where the terrain has been leveled in an area so large and so rough (otherwise) that a team of 6 would have to spend literal Months to flatten it all. Is there some better/other way to level terrain than manually digging with a shovel?

#4 - In another thread, someone had mentioned using a canoe from Providence to go back to England. Is this really something we can do?

#5 - Do some objects just have to decay on their own? I've tried and tried to knock down a kiln just outside of my claim but no matter what tool I hold or how long I hit the thing it just stays at the same %. Inside they come down in a few swings.

#6 - I've been told several times now that the mold-chance for drying pallets is checked at intervals while they dry, and that "Everything with a collision box" will increase the mold chance.
Does this mean that if there are PCs or Animals within 5 tiles when the check is made it will actually increase? (kind of a silly Q, but it is stuck in my head)

#7 - After finding that there are no Pigs, Sheep, or Cattle in the world yet (Providence anyway), I've been trying to find a list anywhere that indicates what is or is not implemented. Is there such a list someplace or is it the sort of thing we need to ask on a case by case basis?
(7b, any world on what kind of time-frame we are looking at on these things going into the game?)

#8 - Do trees in general give the same amount of lumber, or do certain types have more Base boards/blocks?

#9 - Does "Soil Digging" still have no effect or was it fixed?

I appreciate the answers.. and I hope others find answers to their own questions in them.

1) carts cannot be lifted, the wiki is wrong if it says so. Base page probably copied from a sled and not entirely reworked.

2) it's used to make sausages from domestic meat, I you lack domestic animals it'll have no use for you for now.

3) so far there is only manual flattening, just don't go trying to flatten huge areas that are unfeasible. Be sensible and settle on flatter land. Archaeology might change this answer when/if it gets imlemented

4) no

5) has high soak, need huge amounts of phlegm to chip away at it and then arson for the last bit. Let it decay or extend claim, as the owner of a pclaim can destroy anything on it with soak value reduced to 0

6) just build them snapped to grid with 7 tikes between them and that's as good as it gets.

7) not really, if you can unlock it ingame it's there, otherwise look harder or it's not there. Try Procne's catch up post, or announcement category posts by admins

Animals will come to provi when popham ends ... Maybe

8) same amount when fully mature, take a while to mature after they're planted. Hammer and nail prof increases chance to roll more boards on a sawbuck when placing a log.

9) no fix yet from what I know
Exactly 6.022 x 10^23 worth of Lach molecules.
