So my "friend" decided it would be funny to take away my ability to access anything on our claim but i can still move. Is there anyway I can get out because I can't open the gates? And what happens if I just close the game because it won't let me log out, will my character stay logged in and gain madness?
you are unable to do anything without criminal acts and the corresponding skills, and if you do enable those you will gain crime debuffs and leave scents, probably dieing to defenses like braziers/torchposts.
yes, your character will stay logged in and gain madness. You are unable to log out on soil you do not have trespassing permissions for (enabling criminal acts when you have trespassing will not allow you to log out).
I think this is the perfect use of quotation marks! -- "friend"
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

The devs are not about to intervene in an argument between players. Maybe next time consider the fact that you are living on claimed land from someone you do not completely trust.
Consider this a lesson in the political scene of Salem If he is hiding in a house to kill you while afk, it's well within the mechanics and mindset of this game.
besides, those logs aren't exactly in your favour. Apparently you did something to piss your landowner off. Don't do that.

Can you port to providence on your leanto? If it works go to the town and walk from there to build a new leanto somewhere. Then you are out.

Alternatively, I don't believe braziers will fire on you for combat. Go kill him. It might not help your situation a whole lot as you'll still be stuck in there, but at least he will also be dead. Assuming you're better at combat, and win, of course. Then too, if you KO him, you can offer him his life for a party invite, which will allow you permissions to port away (You may still die from the scents you leave behind though).
Edit: I had forgotten too that the mine no longer falls under claim protection. If you can get in there, you can totally trash the place. Revenge.
