account requirements to post in idea forum

Postby Darwoth » Mon Aug 17, 2015 5:39 pm

anytime i check this forum i see nothing but a flood of crap suggestions that would completely ***** up one or several aspects of the game, 9 of 10 times these "great ideas" are from some gone in a week guy stopping by between themepark games.

limiting those who can post here to accounts that have 500+ posts and are at least one year old would go a long way toward skimming off the majority of flotsam that gets posted here so as to not have to wade through it to read the relevant stuff that might matter.

I&I is by far the worse thing to read at times. We can't actually limit accounts to this unfortunately. Should just use the master mason section as intended ;)

How else are new players going to learn how things work on the forums? Isn't this the best way they get introduced to the fact that they probably don't need to post? The 'supportive' responses to these suggestions teach you a lot about the game and the community for sure.

Some people just dont post much, but it doesn't mean that they are not active on game or check the forums regularly.

you can limit this by putting new players in a specific usergroup when registered and limit this usergroups post rights to this forum.

example of a good idea by a longstanding member > viewtopic.php?f=12&t=14510&start=10

on the other side theres Tomacco.... viewtopic.php?f=12&t=14167

Normally id agree, but it seems like to much of a hassle.

Limiting I&I wouldn't really do much good, 99% of the ideas posted there are ignored or shot down instantly.

Its an outlet for new players to vent their frustrations and get hazed by veterans, the ones who survive learn that Salem is tough, and you either hulk up or gtfo.

Id say instead of limiting the board, just add a Polling system, like the one you added to this thread, to many 'Nay' votes and it gets thrown into the trash and locked, if it reaches a high number of 'Yay' votes it gets moved to a 'community approved' section, that way the devs can more easily browse ideas that the community would enjoy, and they can cherry pick from there.

When did Darwoth get back on the Master Mason's forum? I thought he either rage quit it, or was thrown off it.

You're not even in the mason's you trolling child, why do you always have to open your mouth and be wrong about everything, unlike you, he actually posts good ideas on there, good thing people like you aren't allowed.

The mason's forum is an I&I where we keep a few very active players. Only a couple dozen people have access. Its sole purpose is to get ideas and bug reports from people who have been playing a long time, are very active, and who's server logs and forum posts have shown that they know what they're doing. It doesn't get nearly as much traffic as I'd like to see, though.

I believe that it actually would be possible for me to make a group that does have permissions to post here and one that doesn't. It might even be possible to automate membership, but I don't think so. I think I'd have to resort to manually moving people. However, the two main reasons I don't want to do this are that we DO have the Mason forum and that some people do play a long time before ever posting and I'd prefer to be able to see their ideas.
