Taxidermy

Postby Tulgarath » Fri Aug 14, 2015 3:17 pm

After all of this hassle over keeping that damn goat alive only to see it dead, I would like nothing more than to rip out its insides, stuff the stupid thing and make it stand up!!

Then I never need to fear seeing it tipped over or sitting again! !

In all seriousness, if we could stuff our kills, mounts some heads and maybe even have some kind of contest to see who can mount the largest deer rack (would need to add that to the horns maybe like carat size in gems).

We do already have fish and Argopelter trophies.

But I would like that goat to stand up again. :)

I was reading about it and I think that's only a consolation for your frustration, which was playing the animal lottery, and getting two ornery billy goats that together, were as useless as certain anatomical features on a bull. (Maybe worse than useless since being naturally inclined to do so, they made a game attempt to kill each other under the prevailing circumstances.)

I feel like we should be able to "buy the one we need", because you can certainly tell what it is after you buy it, why not before? If it was that "oh, this animal is useful and will grow into meat and hides and whatever regardless" lower (or probably raise! I know the devs) the cost of definitely getting the one you need, either a definitely male or female animal is more expensive, or whichever seems best to have as the more expensive one, in light of the added utility. Maybe the male could be cheaper because all he will do without the female (which you will have to get elsewhere, and probably right there with even more money) is eat your food and be a nuisance and eventually get slaughtered. (probably sooner rather than later if he doesn't die on his own anyway). I mean, the animal products are inherently valuable, I get that, as is the potential for breeding, but paying to play the lottery and getting screwed that often is frustrating. And it seems like common sense that you would be able to tell.

If it takes making it obnoxiously expensive or (hopefully) lowering the cost on the males and raising it some on the females to "balance" it, that would be fine.

Otherwise I don't disagree, something like that would be fun. We have models for the animals, just find someway to apply it to a furniture item you can put in your house so you can show off how you totally beat a Darkenbear.

I'm not opposed to it, to be sure.

Perhaps something of a compromise and maybe a bit of existing systems. ..but what about if say the darkenbear head mounted on the wall could be 'pondered' or the 30 point buck could 'inspire' pilgrims, daily cool down like Graves or the hookah, but could give summer bonus, either raise hunting and hide working a point a day. ..maybe only the 10 highest , most renown trophies on the server offered the buff.

This could extend into some kind of matter piece crafting for all our most proficiencies. Large mouth bass, pop out some amazing grand need instead of the normal grand bed.

To balance, these items could put you in the map, some kind of way that people can identify where they are. After all, such a wonderous prize shouldn't be hidden away.

It could do a few things, hunting deer is available to most people, and worth so many deer dying, this could change hands quite a bit. If you didn't want the attention you could sell it, but they could change quickly.

This could offer an appeal to raiders, because new targets could become visible, but it could also put them in the radar as well.

A bit out of place, but it came to me how just idea of trophies could expand.

Go ahead and bash away lol
