Suppositories

Postby Nagualcina » Sat Aug 08, 2015 3:22 am

My sheeps scratching their bottoms on soil so i guess they got sick but im not sure what to use. Does animals have different illness and different cures or i assume common sense that pigs get swineflu, goats scrapie, cows madcow and sheeps hoof and mouths (which is also cattle illnes)? Fom previous threads i figured i need to lube suppository with lard or thats just tolling?

Google scrapie and

Related to this, I found a log of a recent dev conversation regarding the development roadmap. I have transcribed it here for you:
JohnCarvier wrote:So team, we're going to implement animals, does anyone have any suggestions for a "chore" mechanic to add to animals?

TarpTarpton wrote:Hmm, what can we put in that affects all animals?

TobaccoCounter wrote:Well, there's feeding them for one, then milking cows and goats, and sheering the wool of sheep, and maybe unique food to fatten pigs, that sounds like it covers everything.

TarpTarpton wrote:Yeah that sounds good but we need something more, something like a "chore" that will kill off the animals if not done in time.

JohnCarvier wrote:Right, because animals don't just live forever; we need something risky, that will kill them off extremely quickly if the animals are not tended to.

TobaccoCounter wrote:I mean, put a quick enough timer on the food they need, and keep the food kind of specialized, with specific tasks, maybe a happiness level that causes them to be unproductive after some point in time seems reasonable to me.

TarpTarpton wrote:Yeah whatever. Oh how about sickness? Animals get sick right? And they can die if they don't get care.

JohnCarvier wrote:Excellent idea Tarp! I've got a great idea! How about we add in medicine the players need to craft!

TarpTarpton wrote:Yes! That's it! They can make suppositories to shove up the animal's asses!

JohnCarvier wrote:Yeah yeah, and oh that would make the animal upset, so let's add lube! Players will have to lube the suppositories and THEN shove them up the animal's asses!

TarpTarpton wrote:Wow that is so realistic! I can't wait to get this in the game so players can lube pills to shove up animals' asses all the time!

JohnCarvier wrote:I know right! Man this game really needed shoving lubed objects up animal asses. I will get to work on this right away! We will need many systems on how to shove lubed medicine up animal asses!

TarpTarpton wrote:Oh me too! I'm going to make unique drawings of items to shove up animal asses! It will be so cool to work on unique lube to add into the game!

I wasn't there, obviously, but this is eerily close to the minutes I was CCed of that meeting.

Seems like we have an operational security issue.

The drama, it spreads even to the demigods! It is a plague, a plague of subterfuge and whispers! Loftar save us all! (And Jorb, we haven't forgotten about you either Jorb)

Also to contribute some actual content, while this is the help forum let me just reiterate my advice elsewhere to just attempt medicating your animals' posteriors and rely on the possibility of doing that to diagnose wether the beast is actually sick.

As for wether the chore was needed, sure, it's a good mechanic imo. Keeps them a commodity aimed less at hermits and more at towns, hopefully with enough of a reward to make it worthwhile to pursue. If anything perhaps a smaller alternative to a barn could be given for smaller settlements, or perhaps the chance for disease tweaked a bit as it seems high (especially in conjunction with the counter-intuitive animations).

Have personally had a cow go sick 3 times in the past 30 hours or so and a bull twice in the past 24. Cows are tough bananas, man, all dat tobacco :(

Those sickness rates seem incredibly high.

That being said though. Sickness has a greater chance to happen based on the same timer that happens when an animal eats. So the faster the metabolism, the more chances he has to get sick. Then the green bar also influences the chance he actually GETS sick on those rolls. So between the metabolism AND the high vulnerability on starter animals that is probably a bit of the issue. Once y'all breed your animals to reasonable Metabolism and Vulnerability stats it should be far less of an issue.
