How to apply Lime to hide after remomving from rack?

I had some hides drying on the rack and I removed them from the rack when they were done. Is there a way I can still add Milk of Lime to it? I want to turn it to leather but of course I cant put it back on the rack and I am unable to add the lime to the hide in my inventory. I've tried holding them both and right clicking but nothing works that I can find.

You get a bucket with watter (empty bucket, left click, then on watter right click, that fills the bucket), and put it back into your inventory. Then you get a lime, left click on lime, right click on bucket with watter, that will give you milk of lime (10 liters).
Then with the dried hides, you go to craft, processing materials, select the lime hide, and craft, it will take 2.5 liters per hide.
