Mining question

Postby Burseig » Sat Aug 01, 2015 11:33 am

So I found one of those big chunk of black walls. Usually i dig in a straight line, put a fire, come back later, put another fire, etc
Eventually the entrance to the lower level will spawn.

This time, i decided to dig all around the back walls, and lit fires everywhere, to save some time.

I seems the entrance will not be here this time. ^^

So how does it work? Each "black" tile you mine has a chance to spawn the entrance? Is it a specific tile?
Does it still work if there is no rock tiles left all around the black tile?

What is your technique if you feel like sharing.
Can we spawn several lower level entrance? Or once one is spawn, all black walls disappear?

There's just a chance for one to spawn. Some factors include how long you've been on that level and what level you are on. The deeper you mine, the less likely you are to get an entrance to a lower level.

You can spawn more than one cavedown on a level and each will lead to a separate new level. I've seen pictures where there were two entrances right next to each other, probably on the shallower levels where cavedowns are much more likely.

Do you still need to light fires to crack walls?

Only the 'black' wall, the dark one that can create a cave-down. If you're only looking for ore, you never need to burn a wall.

Ok thanks for the answer.

So, if you want to speed up the process, when you find this chunk of black walls, you can mine around and lit many fire at once.

False statement, on 2 seprate levels i have been placed in the middle of hardrock when i dropped down, instantlyrequireing burning of walls to progress.
(Currently on Level 8 with this happening)

Im also confident someone posted that on the very first level for them this happened.

Yes, in that case, you'd have to burn out a wall to get to the rest of the mine. I was talking about the fact that mining ore doesn't require burning walls. :/

I ll add one question to my post.

On a decay point of view,Is it advised to put a claim on my mine?
The mine will be reset after some time?
Or if there is regularly some mining activities going on, it will never "decay"?
