weapon changes

My thought was that guns could have some element of tracking done for you, but it would be somewhat dependent on a skill what the actual deviation was, and at any real distacne you would be incredibly inaccurate. You would be lucky to hit anything at the edge of your screen. It just seems like aiming and precision are something that is a thing with muskets, and real muskets, are not like that. They are not precision instruments, and they are not generally, skill weapons. It seems like to me, the high prof, high skill ceiling ranged weapon should be things like the blowgun.

Also, I feel like there should be adjustment to swords. The current swords stay in, maybe with the same animation, but the damage is migrated to another type (blunt, or maybe cut? some artifacts that have blunt would also have cut. It seems strange to call a sword cut and a halberd blow blunt. They aren't. And the Spanish Saber is not really much of a thrust weapon, you slash with those.) The idea is you could have a relatively artless tier of sword using that's basically just swinging a saber or other similar sword around like a meat cleaver. Maybe the same arc we have, also possibly slightly larger.

Then you would have actual fencing moves and a sword that did piercing and possibly took better mats at a higher tier. That's the thing about fencing, really. Actual fencing is very skilled. You could have it somewhat balanced by maybe not having as many artifacts with good pierce defense, giving it a crit chance or combos allowing for that, or something like that.

Because that's how you really kill people with a rapier or thrusting sword. You have the opportunity to easily skewer vital organs or the brain. Making a lower tier of "big dumb meat cleaver swords" would just kind of spread out how it works, and provide a higher tier of combat in general. I'm more committed to the idea of sword and melee weapon nuance and tiers, but having somewhat random, non skill based "noob tube" muskets might have uses. You wouldn't invest much, and the outcome would be dubious, but it would have uses. And the pistol would

How incisive and well argued.

Surely, we will abide by this comprehensive rebuttal.

Sounds like another stupid idea, this is like a record, just because you're trash at pvp(doubt you even pvp), and can't even pve vs a deer, doesn't mean it needs to be changed. Dallane, unlike you knows how to pvp, so he doesn't need some elaborate argument to show that your idea is retarded.

Dudes. Why are you so mean to people who post suggestions?

If you don't like the idea just say so, no need to trash on OP. And give some reasons! Don't just say "no" unless its on the "already suggested/never" list, come on!

I like the idea. Its pretty hard to hit stuff with ranged weapons atm. Shouldn't ever be "click 2 kill" tracking, but more leeway to make up for lag/salem would be great. Plus it'd just be another skill/feature to build up which'd be nice.

Haven't used swords enough to give my opinion on that, but more variety than just a rapier would be nice xD

(It is always wise to keep priorities in mind though. Better rifle mechanics sounds like it wouldn't be too hard for JC to implement (probably?) but would be pretty helpful. Better sword mechanics would be nice, but might be harder to implement and while not the best at least the current sword mechanics work pretty well)

You say that you have used a gun, then you would know how much damage it causes to people along with the slow. With this knowledge you would know why tracking would be just terrible with guns. There is a very good reason why it is "hard" to use guns.

People who have no idea about combat are clueless on how it should be changed and make terrible ideas like this. This is how I know you are also clueless.

I think adding a better chance to hit with a gun would unbalance what we have. Right now, guns are pretty OP if you can manage to hit someone with one. The difficulty of hitting, though, balances things out.

I can maybe see adding a new weapon to the game in the form of a different sword with it's own style of fighting, but I don't see changing the swords we have. We did put a lot of work into this: balancing damage, trying to cater to different fighting styles. If you want a new style with a new weapon, you're going to have to give a bit more detail than just that it should have it's own type of artifice.

It would be kinda nice if weapons had more than one attack, unarmed combat has so many different ones.

Thrusting is a primary function of a sword first off. 2nd there is no use to having tons of attacks here.
