Madness to get Questionably Effective Pickaxe?

What madness do I need to get questionably effective pickaxe? Is it okay to mine with 1 madness or do I need to fix that first?

I believe that people have been reporting it in the 1-3 range but I think it could happen at any moment with madness.

I finally got my first pickaxe and received a madness lvl as well. Now I'm paranoid to mine.

You should definitely take care of the madness before mining.
