Some questions about items/equips/security

Postby gustavohvg » Mon Jul 27, 2015 11:40 pm

I'm reading the wiki and game info, but some mechanics are not explained that clear. Also most guides does not seems update. Please, help:

1) When you are KOed you loose your Toolbelt? And your keyring? You loose anything "inside" these equips?

2) What do I need to do if a strong player attack me? The skill Yellow Belly is useful?

3) I have a single stone fence with a brazier in my small claim (brazier range covering all the claim) and I don't know if another brazier or torch would be helpful. Would it?

4) Also don't know if a brick wall should be my priority (I'm in Popham). What is the price of the rare bricks needed and the gelatinous thing? Whats the approximate chance of having a gelatinous thing while cooking food?

5) I don't understand why people considers a metal box safe since as far as I know people could carry it (?).

1 .not, you are loosing all things inside inventory and backpack
2.run ,run ,and run ,kill tons of rabbits and get pocket watches ,use it and run ,since you are playing on pvp server ,it would be hard for you
3.make city,or join to one ,it's easy to take out 1 brasier and stone wall ,as i know if you build more brasiers at 1 area it just make less damage ,but a bit more chance to get critikal damage ,but not sure how it was changed
4.against cannons even brick wall can't help :)but it's your own choice
5.because you can close it ,and it's very hard to destroy, since you keep items there you cant carry it

1). You keep your keys, I know that.

2). Beg for your life, hope it's not worth it to kill you to them. It might be, yellow. It's cheap enough to get anyway so you can try to bribe them with money in your bank.

3). Get more, layers of split rail and makeshift, although this will not save you from the cannons, those are a bit off and it wouldn't be "worth it" to cannon a lot of personal claims anyway. That and another brazier, and a torch would probably be pretty good to start. The torches have a lot more range, and half the damage of the brazier. And if you have more, people get hosed more. The way it works concentrating them leads to more overall damage, so do it as you have space and can make them not totally easy to disable.

4). maybe? They are a little hard to make, but very difficult to bash. On this server people will probably have cannon by that point, and will probably prefer them anyway because it's really annoying to bash brick walls. You just kind of get them randomly burning bricks. You'll probably get a reasonable number just burning the bricks you need anyway for the other part. If not, burn more batches, use the bricks for other stuff, like paving, or buildings that need bricks. The food lard is a bonus. Aim for getting it from animals because that's the only sane way to do it at any speed.

5. It's secure that's what. It has right up at the top, maybe even the top (confirmation?) HP of any structure, and very high soak. It's sickeningly difficult to actually bash open. A lot of people wouldn't even bother except for sheer spite because carrying it away is another crime and it's really hard to get open.

Got it. But now:

6) How creating a town would be helpful?

7) So the only advantage of more braziers/torch would be that it's more difficult to disable? And 3 stone hedges is a pretty good defense?

8) People keep calling Popham a PVP server... but Providence also has PVP in the same mechanics, right?

6) You need a waste claim to actually commit waste against one, meaning someone has to go to the trouble of making one, which is expensive and takes a while to activate, giving you time to prepare for the worst, run away, or attack it as you see fit and throw them out. Without that even a crummy makeshift fence cannot have even one branch put out of place by an enemy player or someone in general who does not have the rights to do so because they are a town member with the rights.

7). Both literally because there are more to break, and because there are more of them doing more DPS. Someone else or a dev can say how the mechanic works, but overall, they do more damage when concentrated. Even before when it was slightly different more of them did not do more damage, but had more crit chances because more shots. Now there are more shots, but JC did say concentrating them did "more damage". He might have actually meant more damage period besides more crit chances.

8) Well, MORE pvp. It's not like Providence is Trammel. you can kill people. But it's intended to be more long term, has no cannons which break walls easily, and it is "forever" more or less. The expeditions end. People will inevitably get stronger and more fortified and increasingly difficult to successfully siege. People call it the "carebear server", suggesting it's the place for people who want to be "safe" (well, relatively safe. If you put the work in.)

Yes they can do this from your leanto or claim if you have it set as a homestead..

It's to prevent the former (and perfidious) practice of "alt vaulting" by just logging out with a character that has stuff on them. Before they were basically in the Phantom Zone, and were totally secure. Now there are ways to get at the goodies on a character.
