Drone bees keep dying

Postby razfen » Wed Jul 22, 2015 6:26 pm

I put 6 drones to my queen and after a day now there's only two drones left. How do I keep the bees alive?

I believe you can get unlucky, as they die on their own and should they die before they spawn more, you'll need to manually add more. 6 is the minimum (i think) you need for the hive to spawn everything it spawns, perhaps add more than 6, don't check too often as apparently they get ticked off if you spam check :P

I put my bees in a chess board style, (like lime in the smelter), with holes between them.
My queen is in the middle of the second row (starting bottom). Seems to work well, I always have some bees for the dead ones.

It's definitely recommended to not check more than once a day or they'll die a lot more quickly.

Another thing, do they actually have to be within range of potted plants, trees (any kind, or is it just fruit trees) or fields to reproduce and make honey? If that's true I'll just put off my Bee dreams for a bit.

They work fine on their own.
