A system that makes alts fair. If you dont actually use your character for chores, then it cant fight(dumb example). or if you want to be good at X, then doing activity Y will make X be more efficient. That way people use a character to make their other activities be worth it.

Perhaps its some sort of lazyness, however the fact that no-1 else is filling that gap either makes the game broken or the server population unhealthy aka lazy as *****. Those two things might be rooted in eachother, simply because it is not yielding enough fun for anyone to keep it up for a long time.

always gives me a chuckle to listen to retards cry about "alts" (that are frequently better than their mains) then demand some idiotic system to pigeonhole everyone into their inefficient and retarded single character playstyle as though that would not drive off 100x more people than the reverse

"alts" are not a problem, a weak/wimpy playerbase is and always has been the problem and probably will be for a long time. if you retards cant keep from getting killed (or exact revenge) under the current ruleset (which is the only purpose to ***** about "alts" to begin with) then you are hopeless and will always find something to cry about,

the reality is "why bother its just an alt" is simply the current fad excuse from folks that wouldn't do **** either way.

Seems to me the issue with alts is more that it has become a required mechanic, having them is not an issue imho. Came back hoping the game had improved and in many ways it has, but there are also a lot of things that are not or worse. 'Feels' more pay-2-win and that there are even more issues with PVP than before.

You mentioned earlier that summer was contributing to the lower population, but I have found a lot of people out of school trying it again so I am not sure. I don't believe your 400 at all and if they put in the real numbers I would be surprised if it got over 100 on both servers combined. The fact that it is hidden says something, and the current 'creative' numbers are getting back to pre-popum levels.

Unfortunate since this is a good game, time will tell I guess. There is also the question of how many people go to HnH 2.0, assuming it is really a thing. Some effort to grow/retain players is surely needed.... or all that is going to be left is you and your alt-army. Then again, I guess you would have won?
Awwww...Care Bears are so cute!!!!

alts are not a new "requirement" for raiders and not a requirement at all unless you intend to attack people offensively, there always have been and always will be combat alts, as only a moron would go drag their crafter out to fight TBC or not

game is what it is, play it or dont.

This is a very good game, it currently is trying to take two sides tho. I have never liked that aspect, many people do not like the whole idea of the expeditions to make up for many flaws of the PVP systems. Everything on Providence has been balanced for the soul purpose of the expeditions and that has been a very bad call IMO.

Right now, we have an expedition with a very boring and slow-paste game going on. Thats IMO due to the limited grief and joy we can have there. Ultimately, thats of course going to change abit the further we progess in there, however that does not change the fact that its completely boring to do the grind all over again for just a couple weeks of fun where people are going to get wiped anyway. On top of that, i am very afraid that not many people will try the 2nd expedition, because that one will likely even hold less changes and people are bored of starting all over again for so little reason.

Changing mechanics during the expedition has been a bad call IMO aswell, it had some major influence early game so far and on top of that we've had a broken tutorial system which created for some (smart) people an unfair advantage. We are once again back to the stage that they implemented broken mechanics just like the animals which all die, perhaps its because something unknown so far but still its completely ***** up JUST like many other things around in the game (Bypassing systems suchs as TBC's, donuting TBF'S, no clear path to Witchcraft etc).

I just hope that, after the first expeditions they will balance everything properly on Providence so we can have a more stable game going on.

Of course, as Darwoth said the opinions are very much based on your own playstyle, in this case mine.

So why is it that everyone wants the lategame here, but people pray for a server reset in haven 2 weeks after a new one launches?
I enjoy Popham as it is, and am perfectly fine with my chars getting wiped at the end of world, and will most likely participate in the next expedition too.
" If a beam taketh six nails to place, then six shalt it be. If thou useth five, then be thou a cheap and careless fool. If thou useth seven, then be thou a wastrel with no pride. "

We have more fun on Jamestown Popham

And again Roberto, if you are afraid (or unwilling) of the work involved I do consider you lazy. Things could be a bit less of a grind, but as you have seen that is when the carebears (people like Barny) start whining about not having anything to do. As those confectionery folk would undoubtedly say "You can't have your cake and eat it, too."

Essentially RobertoKarlos what I am asking is this:
What do you think needs to happen to make this game more fun?

I think that the point is that this game was never meant for carebears, trying to get those gamers is what turn out most mechanics ******. Salem was never open about this since the start it was false promoted "Salem the crafting mmo" when there was more pvp and permadeath than crafting. I miss a lot of things about the old servers, especially not having any waste/tbc, in those times there was real danger of logging in the game and see all your stuff destroyed out of nowhere, the sense of real danger plus having to restart from scratch, i would also add world resets every 6-12months so people are actually encourage to do something ingame, is weird but most of players play a permadeath game but are scared to lose their **** when is eventually something that ALL should experience(this lack of experience is imo what makes most players ****** and stop them from trying anything criminal/political ingame), the best tears were the ones caused by jorbtar at the apocalipse of Jamestown/Roanake/Plymouth from tons of this kind of players, most rage about quitting and they were the first to create an alt in Providence(Darwoth).

I enjoyed Jamestown a lot more than providence and popham, even with all the bugged mechanics in jorbtar era. Right now all i see from the devs is adding mechanics counterclock, most of them halfbaked and bugged as *****, and just moving straightforward leaving the previous bugged/halfbaked mechanics untoched as they move in ***** new ones.
