You are doing something right. Teach me please.

I'm just saying in the last few years of playing this I hunt around a hour+ a day and have never had this happen to me.

You more than likely are not staying close to the deer as you claim. Your idea of point blank could be different than what it actually is.

For the sake of science, and to clarify for all the newbies still looking to hunt deers, I went and stalked a deer from up close. You may be right that it's not quite collision worthy point blank range, but it was still very close, it may have moved half a mini-tile away from me before ramming, so 5-6 pixels out of collision distance at best. All in all i'd say staying close is just not my style of hunting deers early on, and while a probably valid technique I'd still rather vouch for the tree-hugging stompification method :D

For me bullrun it then clubbing it 2-3 times and den uppercut 2 times and the deer is down...and dont let the deer get too far away from you then it will never charge you...i only get hurt if i am to stupid to aim wich occurs from time to time

In one of the patches a few months ago the distance at which deer starts to charge has been shortened. Since then people have started experiencing charges in situations where there would be no charge in the last 2 years. It's not point black, but it seems to be as little as 2 tiles. It's short enough that deers can repeatedly charge a bear at melee range (apparently bear hitbox is bigger than the distance a deer needs to charge)

Excuse me for being vulgar here, but you quit literally need to have your **** in its **** and treat it like your riding it cowboy style (self censored because otherwise it would be quite NSFW).
