Charity mission for rangers

Postby ceromaster » Mon Jul 20, 2015 6:39 pm

Hi,

I have found these scents of murder on popham (25 tiles east, 3 tiles north (+/- 2 tiles) from the main city).
The murderers put a pclaim and a kiln on top of them. Since I think hiding their sins this way is definitely not fair, it would be satisfying to at least see them at stocks.
Unfortunatelly I can not pay you but I hope there are a few rangers that are really seeking for justice (and to increase their score, of course).
Happy hunt!

No one really cares unless you are offering a reward. Sounds to me like you are baiting someone to leave scents.

Because every punishment is a summonable scent :D

In seriousness I have similar doubts, but it's also true that you could punch someone in the neck for murder or other crimes without putting yourself at great risk.

You don't actually have to use revenge on them, for one thing. You can stock them or use eye for an eye.

You've badly gimped the character in the one case (and they can't fix losing a hand) and in the other case they might die in the stocks anyways, or at least suffer pretty badly even if they prepared for the eventuality. If nothing else they lose time on that character.

I totally understand your concerns, you can never be too cautious in this game, and I can assure you, I'm not luring anyone into anything (at least not on purpose).
However, I was thinking about this from the perspective of a 40-ish character who was exploring or whatever then all of a sudden 3ppl jumped on him and insta-killed him.

"We have the scents and stocks system for justice" one might think, so you go back with your new, 10ish character to collect the scents and somehow farm the silver you need from crickets to put them to the stocks (so that you can at least make them ill, if not more). Then you realize, you can not even get the scents. And even if you get to a point when you can tresspass end waste the structure that is built on top of the scents, they might disappear by then or you can prepare to be hunted down and start again so the loop continues...
Another point for the bad guys.

And again, I am not luring anyone, I'm just sharing my thoughts and concerns, since this can happen to anyone.

I feel so sad right now for you that you started to play on Popham.

Thanks, and no, you don't have to. That was not my point, I do enjoy playing and always learning something new. Also, the same thing can happen on Providence as well.
I'm just trying to get the logic behind it and point out what _I_ think might be broken or unfair.
As a newbie you will always be vulnerable. You will never catch up to the titans on providence and you will never have enough time to beat the bad guys on popham.
At least you have some protection with a few layers of walls and some torchposts/braziers on popham but only until the cannons appear.

I'll offer A choice of these items for the scalp of the crime-doer:

1x Eternal Flame (Unused)
1x Gardener Shovel
1x Hellfire Tong
1x Memento Mori
1x Sweet n' Thorny Refresher (750k Inspiration Pot)

Because I don't condone crime

You must have pictures of the adventure you took and adequate proof to claim the reward.
(If you're the crime-doer/Friends of, you may scalp yourself and present it to me, but you wont receive the reward)

On a side note, unless i'm wrong you can't destroy Kilns without the use of the item that places buildings on fire, unless you have a very high blue bile character. Which. Takes. 3-4 days..
