What difference would it make claeyt?

Well it makes a big difference if it means it was the FIRST clue. I didn't get a chance to read it, but if it helps us to find out the way to become a witch in some unknown way then people starting to hunt the clues might need it. Mostly I'm just curious if you're counting it as the FIRST clue and you mean that someone has found the clue after the SECOND swamp clue or if they're already 2 past it.

The clue in town was answered for you and the answer was put on the sign that is currently in Popham. The others will persist until Marp sees fit to remove them.

Cool. I hope they persist for awhile so anyone has the chance to find out how to become a Witch, including anyone just starting on Popham now.

Yea I guess that makes sense. My bad.

You still haven't said which is which.

Was the swamp clue the first or second clue?

It doesn't matter which clue is the first clue. Like Cotton said, it's been answered and leads you to the next area.

Also, people starting on Popham right now will likely not be able to become a witch with this method as there are moderate to advanced pre-requisites which will need to be met. This quest line is intended to be a creative way to seed witchcraft, not some kind of great leveling even playing ground. As soon as enough witches sprout on Popham, I'm sure the dark forces which control the world will remove the quest line and allow witches to populate themselves the way god intended.

Did the people that found the next hint find it by brute-force exploration or actually figured out the ridiculously ambiguously "what the heck does this even mean" riddle? xD
Exactly 6.022 x 10^23 worth of Lach molecules.

As I am likely beyond the second clue here is some info:

First Sign at the Second Clue:
"This is the sign of Enoch."

Second Sign at the Second Clue:
"I will also make it a possession of the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD ... (313)"

This one is easy to get to, but hard to figure out. What do you think it means?

Which is ironic because Witchcraft is Un Godly (or so say God Fearing Pilgrims) but whatever. :D

Both. the clues don't provide you with a specific location so it involes some amount of exploration in the area

Exploration in the Area of the 'Swamp Signs' Clue?

No, in the area pointed out by the clue. It took me 2-3 hours of pure exploration (not counting the time needed to get there) to find the second clue and I think I was lucky with it.
