Right click on it and select 'Buy' you can buy all sorts of useful items without the risk of trading with a player, the most recent addition was the Teddybear. Mainly because JC/Marp realized that on a fresh server, Madness would be a huge problem if there wasn't a easily accessible way to reduce madness. If you know what your doing, you could have 500 silver within a few hours on a new character, kill crickets/bunnies and sell them to the NPC Stall.

I will admit that the NPC Stall is a bit hard to find as a new player, 99% of the stuff in the cities are completely cosmetic, a new player will start trying to click on doors and give up after a while because nothing is happening. Maybe suggest a way to fix that in the Ideas board.

I took the liberty to screenshot the one in Popham for you, and upon inspecting the buy list again, ive noticed that the Teddybear is no longer available, im not sure if its because i already bought one, or because there was a time limit of it being on the stall, but its not on there for me.

Ty for detailed answer that lead us to same conclusion, no Teddybears in stalls...B)

I believe there is a chance of getting a teddy bear out of the salem crappy meal. But yeah, I stopped playing on Popham because I found it too difficult to manage madness, especially after the events. Is it my fault that I suck at managing madness? Sure is, but it's silly to have a mechanic that encourages you to not play (one villager decided to play regardless of madness and lost two pickaxes..). Also, I imagine noobs have a very difficult time working this madness thing out, one that I met had five or six levels of madness when I met him and he didn't really understand it at all.

I think one thing that would be extremely useful is letting us see our insanity level. Sometimes I study a bunch of things, whittle a load of sticks, and think I'm grand for a while. But then I go up another madness level and can't mine (or play really since the main thing I enjoy is mining) for another 8 hours while I sleep.

Well, I guess I could use tobacco, and I do, but it honestly doesn't seem to work most of the time (from 1-0 madness at least, where there is still a chance of tools going POOF). Maybe there is some method to tobacco, for example a certain tier is good at reducing lower levels or something like this but why is this so much work? (before you say it isn't a lot of work, that's probably because you enjoy doing insanity reducing things, which I don't)

But I honestly feel like I'm being forced to do **** I really don't enjoy just to play the parts of the game I do enjoy, and I really don't see any compelling reason to force players to do such things. Well, it isn't going to stop botting, that's for sure.

tl;dr - JC did a fantastic job of removing chores from the game, but felt there was no survival aspect left in the game, so decided to make you have to survive by doing chores like picking flowers you don't want and making pointy sticks that you will throw away. I'm just going to assume I don't fully understand the mechanic as I don't think JC is that silly as he has done an incredible job making the game enjoyable. But god help noobs trying to deal with this ***** without teddy bears or game mechanic knowledge.

Derails aside, the question remains, is it okay to even have a chance to wreck weapons at level 1 madness? :P Surely despite the game being released it can still do with some finer tuning. And the forums seem like an awesome place to give feedback on edge situations like 4 pickaxes between 2 levels of madness. I find that the other problems madness has caused me are fun, and do indeed make me actually pay attention to the game. Long gone are the days when I could afk-work, and that's more fun than unfun. However I think permanent consequences that have no hint of possibly happening and that can get behind you and bum you like you dropped the soap in jail (losing pickaxes) should the RNG gods hate you , should be kept under observation and possibly tuned differently if they are currently overtuned.

I have yet to gain a madness level on my ''main character", and I play & afk a lot.

It is people being idiots or people who afk hours who will gain a few madness levels & complain about it.

So I see no problems with items & weapons getting wrecked on low madness levels

KOing does not add any insanity, so I don't know what was giving you madness during the event.

I really don't think we're going to change anything about the psychotic episodes. Remember, the pickaxe episode was added to help balance the teddy bear mechanic. We've made it so very very simply to remove a madness level, you're just going to have to deal what what happens when you get one. Now, remove teddy bears and have the tobacco industry work the way it was meant to, and maybe we could also alter psychotic episodes, but I see no reason for us to do so now.

And please don't troll help. I see Dallane had to remove a very long episode of very childish trolling. I am disappointed.

Opening a trapped chest in the "Marp KOs everyone" event adds a madness level.

Adds a madness level as well as a bleed that then proceeds to KO the person again for a whopping 75% inspiration loss by the end of it xD

Not every time for me.
Also, you can use alts and attend the hookah event.

Hmmm... booby traps are part of the expedition update, which I know little about. I wanted to be surprised. They probably add some insanity when you trigger them, but the ensuing KO will not add more.
