I'm not quite sure if you are unintelligent or blind but I didn't say that they were. You brought them up as a example of pvp. Since you were comparing that type of competition which has a completely different system in every possible way to Salem, you lost any sort of ground to stand on. Due to the games you listed as being much more casual than a perma death game I naturally assumed that you needed a game to hold your hand and direct you on a clearer leveling path, possibly giving you a cinematic or story line to focus your interest. There are a few sandbox games on the market now that might be less hard for you to grasp was the point I was trying to make.

I always remember this sage advice from last world whenever I read 'Quitting Salem' threads like this.

The Mysterious Stranger wrote:You are not longer a noob once your character has 100 biles. You are no longer a beginner once you've built your first Townbell. You have just begun to play Salem once your character has died.

It's always easier to rebuild than to quit.

Gee Claeyt according to the AP cost on that there Mysterious Stranger quote, you're still a noob and Salem has yet to begin for you? Anyone have a confirmed kill screenshot on Claeyt? I've never seen nor heard of one nor can I call a Claeyt death to memory.

@Inotdead

I am so glad I repeaked in to see if I could find a laugh. You ***** nailed it man. Nailed down. :lol: ¦]

@rustles

I remember you at the start when I poked in to see if JC would bless me with a cannon shot, and you grouped up. You seem like you had such a bright spirit and destined to glory. Sad to see you all ended up meeting your end. Such is Salem. Its where it starts. The end is knowing that the entire circus is a Black Ops Social Experiment classified by the Swedish Government in cahoots with the CIA, and I'm being very square in saying that. Best of luck bro.

There's an EVE term for this, it's called a: failscade.

It can normally be prevented by having at least semi-competent leadership. This is however difficult to accomplish, due to the massive prevalence of autism in online vidya game leadership.

Those games are only casual if you allow them to be. Just like in Salem you have a choice between playing casually and playing hardcore. A major difference is that the most hardcore and talented in those 3 games actually make a living out of playing those games competitively at a professional level.

To clarify: you can play those games casually if you choose to just to have some casual "fun" by mindlessly joining a game, but you could also spend all that time only focusing on improving your mechanics and strategy which would result in a hardcore experience.

2nd clarification: In Salem playing at a casual level is to simply play farmville, while a hardcore level would be to be an active part of a faction in Popham.

Again there are 2 much different systems in place for these games. Playing salem casually still requires you to have defense to protect your stuff. Playing casual in those other games just means you hop on play a game or 2 and hop off without losing anything. I'm not sure what you are really arguing about at this point.

I am argued several things, but one main argument is that that the popularity of Salem is not a consequence of its merits as pvp game but rather of other systems which do require there to be a pvp system in place. Games that became popular due to its "excellent" PvP are games such as LoL, DotA 2 and CS:GO and I've given reasons for why that is.

Salem is a great sandbox game. LoL, DotA 2 and CS:GO are great PvP games.

As for the requirements of playing casually being larger in Salem than playing the other casually: if you don't play the other games often enough your relative skill level will decrease due to lack of practice. To be more specific: if you don't practice enough you'll become gradually worse compared to the average player in those games. In League of Legends that would mean that your ELO decreases.
