Hardly..just ask myself and fellow villagers.

Also, on the long list of do's n don'ts, read the minor updates after those notes were posted. Several were changed a bit such as the Ko'ing adding a great deal of insanity. Either way, even if you do NOTHING that increases insanity, you gain it slowly yet constantly while playing. Hence, only play a few hours a day, spending those hours gathering inspirationals, so that the next day you can build a few fence links while studying said inspirationals every 3 to 4 mins. To really play more than that you need to have things more readily available, how you do that as a noob, I dunno but I suppose some manage. Just I hear those same people talking about being raided cause they didn't have defenses up lol.

Ok that's my problem I play way too much. I play way more than my friend does so that would explain why I have issues and he doesn't. I guess I'll find something else to do and just play when he is around.

This is so extreme as to be completely wrong. I made two characters on Popham with which to hermit. One to wander and forage and one to stay at home and be my main. Both have kept their insanity so low, they have yet to get a madness level at all. The secret is balance. Synnestry suggests you must drive yourself crazy irl to prevent madness in game. No. A single inspirational will give you about 15 minutes of play time and you can go about 4 hours if you do no positive or negative actions. So, if you're working around a base, take a break from your mining or whatever about every hour, or two even, and just learn a point or two in a proficiency. I'm working on getting Goat Rearing right now so it takes me half a dozen inspirationals sometimes to get one point of F&F and that gives me a whole hour able to do whatever else I want and pull a couple salamander tails besides. You don't even need a timer as some seem to think, just use the inspiration you're getting and keep it low, a useful habit anyway.

And as someone said, losing a level of Madness does not reset your insanity so you still must reduce that too. Gaining a level resets insanity to zero, though.

Do insanity points decay over time if none is added?

The mechanic is build over time, not decay ... none would be added if you were offline, but (as I understand it) your insanity does not reduce during this time unless you are logged off in a bed.

Ok thank you I will give that a try. I guess I thought at a certain point I could stop having to learn skills and just do some mining I didn't realize it was causing my insanity.

Moldy boards need to be nerfed. I found an abandoned board drying thing, and I licked a few (Like 7 of them) before realizing then BOOM! Suddenly 5 levels of madness on my character. I could have easily perma killed my character if that drying rack had more moldy boards in it :/

If your goofy character needs divine intervention in coming to the realisation that licking boards is going to get him into trouble, I think you might think about rerolling anyways, because he's rolled a pretty low INT score.

Right, it was stupid to lick a bunch of moldy boards. However licking 10 boards shouldn't mean instant perma death either.

Edit: Besides, why is that even in the game. It's not like fresh boards are a great trade off. They should atleast turn into dry ones if you would knowingly sacrifice a few madness levels to lick them >_>

If you want to lick dry a moldy board you should perma-die on the first lick ¦]

Simply having your character in game increases its insanity. Leave it AFKing and it will slowly gain madness. Also, stocking a character is a death sentence unless you buy it out. 24h in stocks is enough to get madness up to 10 and kill your character. Unless disease finishes it faster
